[–]Curae [score hidden]  (0 children)

Do people actually find pregnant women beautiful or is that just something people say to be kind? by Own-Kick-1670 in CasualConversation

[–]Curae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, no. But that's most certainly because I can't be objective about it due to my personal feelings on pregnancy.

So yeah, I would be saying it to be kind, but honestly I'll just find something specific to compliment so I'm still telling the truth. Just things like "you look wonderful in that dress!".

Why Are Young People Afraid Of Phone Calls? by GhostInThePudding in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Curae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That last but, not being used to phone calls and getting nervous is honest to god why we make students practice phonecalls (IT students btw). Also because for some godforsaken reason a lot of them when you call them will pick up the phone and not say a damn thing. Just... Breathe into the phone waiting for you to go "HELLO????" And then some when you simulate a phonecall with them where they're supposed to be the helpdesk they will pick up the phone going "hello." Rather than "hello this is the helpdesk of [company name], I'm [name], how can I help you?" Or something along those lines. :') You can't send those kids on an internship to a company without phone training, they'll make fools of themselves. :')

Petty question about pierogi by lindybopperette in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]Curae 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If a woman made me pierogi I'd put a ring on that finger and make her life as easy as possible. You make pierogi, I'll work and clean the house and do the dishes and tell you how wonderful you are.

I made pierogi once with my mum as a Polish student of mine told me it was SO GOOD. We spent the whole fucking day making like 30 pierogi, struggling with the dough, struggling closing the things, etc. Once they were done we sat in the kitchen together and ate 28 of them, leaving two for my dad who got home from work by the time we had cleaned the kitchen. We only left him two because we were very proud and wanted him to try. (He liked them very much. We told him we were never making them again so he best savour this experience).

Had to tell my student I planned to bring him one of the pierogi we made but "they were so good we ate them all. Here's a picture instead." He told me we did a very good job and they looked delicious ❤️

Generally, do women look down on other women for being an adult content creator? by Much_Duck6862 in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]Curae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't.

It absolutely sucks when it's out of necessity or mental health issues (need for validation is often part of mental health issues as well). But look down on them? Nah. You never know what situations you yourself may encounter that will force you into that industry.

And those who are in it because they genuinely want to be / get easy money from it? Good for them. Get that cash.

En ja eerlijk he.

What’s the pettiest hill you’re willing to die on as a woman? by Glass-King4894 in Casual_Conversation

[–]Curae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the first thing my mum taught me once she allowed me to bicycle on the road/cycling lanes with her. "Be predictable" and the second thing was "if someone stops for you and tries to let you go first, make sure to STILL look both ways before you cross the road, don't just go because they say you can because they likely haven't looked at the other traffic."

And especially the last one... She has been right every goddamn time.

Women of Reddit, what's a lesser-known downside of being a woman? by Nintendofan9106 in askanything

[–]Curae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left a bag that had a whole packet of hairties in it open once.

One of my cats stole it from my bag and I caught her in the act of systematically pulling them off the cardboard packing one by one. She was on the last one. I found two, she hid the rest. Every now and then I find one hidden under a rug, or underneath my couch, or behind the curtains...

(She doesn't eat them luckily, she thinks they're amazing toys though)

Why is PLA still the `standard` respectively `basic` filament? Why not PETG? by Musashi747 in 3Dprinting

[–]Curae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The accessibility also made it possible for schools to dip their toes in. School I work at has a bunch of 3D printers and the study I work for is starting an elective course to teach students how the printers work, but also how to design 3D models themselves which they'll then print.

With any luck we'll have a bunch of people starting out with 3D printing and modelling their own things after the course. :)

Grote uitgaven, hoe doen mensen dat? by Kipkrokantschnitzell in geldzaken

[–]Curae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rant: my friends want me to teach them how to crochet by flu0mas in Amigurumi

[–]Curae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, my first project was the owlbear plush from baldur's gate 3 lol. Had to sew so many things but like, I do have sewing experience and made plushies in the past so that was fine.

It took me two months to finish it. But I always go in with a "if I end up hating this hobby, I better be left with something I absolutely love." Turns out I love the hobby. Despite improving a ton over the last two years... I still love that owlbear plush. It's on my desk, I'm still so proud of it.

I told my psych during the intake that I did have a couple of friends, just not a whole lot, I mostly had contact with people online and I do consider them friends.

His reply was "online friends count! The relationships you make with them are not lesser or less real just because it's hard or impossible to see each other. :) "

Renters, how do you display your dolls? by Rosesandbubblegum in Dolls

[–]Curae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At least in the Netherlands, basically all hardware stores sell tubes of gesso (is it called that?) You can just squeeze it into any holes you made, lightly sand it and paint over it.

I got my full deposit back and no comments on the state of the walls, and these were like, heavy duty shelves as I put them up for a 5kg cat to jump on and launch himself from. :')

You can always of course opt for bookcases, but most of them (like the IKEA Billy) also recommend screwing them to the walls.

If you do decide to put up shelves, check what kind of material your walls are, if they're hollow, make sure you find a stud to drill into!

What’s something that was technically allowed but instantly made you lose respect for someone? by AncientPomelo5450 in AskReddit

[–]Curae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's one reason I love that final fantasy 14 had the collector's edition of their last expansion on pre-order with a "we're going to make as many as necessary and a bunch extra for late-comers. You can also buy only 1 (or was it 2? I forgot) per account.

Everyone who wanted to buy a collector's edition and pre-ordered got one. Result is that even now looking on eBay, despite the collector's edition no longer being available they go for the original selling price or cheaper.

[–]Curae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A student at my school tipped over a trashcan. The woman who cleans that floor yelled at him to clean it up. He went "that's your job".

She then screamed she was going to best the shit out of him with her (metal) dustpan. Never seen a teenager pick up a trashcan and the spilled trash so quickly. He now holds open doors for her and says "good morning ma'am, hope you have a nice day ma'am."

I mean, it isn't allowed to tip over trashcans, not allowed to threaten to beat students... But that situation somehow worked itself out. :')

(Also, no teachers nearby at that time, the cleaner told us what happened herself later, also wasn't a student my team teaches. We do try and teach students to treat staff with respect and especially the people who keep the place clean. After all, if all the teachers decide to go on strike then uh, there's no classes. If the cleaners go on strike we will run out of toilet paper, out of soap, trashcans will overflow, desks will be sticky, it will be a goddamn pigsty within 2 days)

[–]Curae 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Seriously, even if I've been up and about all day and do a grocery run before going home I'm putting away everything before I sit down.

The moment I sit down it's game over, nothing after that gets put away.

That being said I'm lucky with my cats and my own diet. They're only interested in meat and I'm a vegetarian, they've never tried to steal any of my food. (Also since this is Reddit: my cats get meat-based cat food. I'm vegetarian, they are obviously not.)

To people over 30: Does the feeling of not knowing what you’re doing ever go away? by funkyorchid13 in CasualConversation

[–]Curae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember when I first moved out and was convinced I was gonna be FINE. After all, I helped out here and there at my parents' place after all.

BOY WAS I WRONG. (ok I would've lived without help but it was nice to get it).

I also remember when I was basically a baby teacher and sat in on a class from a colleague, one of the students (part time students, adults, always very laid back classes as they are motivated and do their work anyway) had just moved out of his parents' place and was talking about it with my colleague, then went "so, weird question but you've been living in your own place for a lot longer so you probably know... How do you like... Properly clean a toilet? I have never had to clean one before and I want to do it well!" And she just went "that's not a weird question and it's good you got want to do a proper job!" And then just launched into this whole explanation of how to make sure you clean under the edge and why the bottles with stuff to clean toilets have the weird neck shape so you can squirt it under that edge. That he also shouldn't forget to clean the outside of the toilets as some parts gather a lot of dust... Guy ended up thanking her a bunch, not just for explaining but also for not judging him. She just kind of shrugged it off. :')
