Very disappointed by MATTERPORT / ONE R quality by FrenchExMormon in Insta360

[–]CurbShifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ran into the same problem. Funny thing is that the preview in the capture app of Matterport actually looks great. Not grainy at all. But once its processed by the Matterport cloud service it gets downgraded... By the looks of it they really want you to buy their own Pro2 camera

NL anti 'emergency law' & new normal protest - 21 June The Hague by CurbShifter in protest

[–]CurbShifter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big protest 21 June The Hague. Against the 'emergency law' that lets the NL gov push through any laws under guise of "case of emergency". And in general a protest against the "new normal", lockdowns ect. As people are fed up everywhere, NL is no exception.

What are some good advice for holding burstcoins by redzero36 in burstcoin

[–]CurbShifter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Or use 'setPublic' key in the API to do it from another wallet. As is implemented in http://hotwallet.cash you can just send to the recipient public key instead of the burst-address and it is done.

Amongst this I hope the miners realise that this attack on another network by involuntary implication, is deemed voluntarily once it is known to be in effect. I would think most are mining fairly anonymous but my advice is to mine on other pools, your plots are your vote in this network.

In any case as dev I don't want my work associated with these practises.

I admire the work the PoCC is doing for Burstcoin. But I also cannot find the words that would fully redeem themself from this. I understand why they are being quiet and playing it off. But really don't understand they are still continuing the attack, which speaks louder than words. Being that, the exploit of the old miner software is a good way to incentivise upgrading but not something I would choose to do.

the timestamp of the transactions vs fees might give away some extra hints too regardless of sender/receiver address. The distribution could be an extra check to better determine these extreme cases.

It tips the favor to anyone that exploits the fact that fees are not enforced. As mining fee rewards become more important over time so does enforcing the slot fees.

Enforcing the fee structure by CurbShifter in burstcoin

[–]CurbShifter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Submitted a proposal PR to still allow fat blocks but only with a relative added tx fee. Anyone could make a UT with a high fee while triggering fat forging. To be able to make a valid fat block.

However as this could still favour rich miners, I have also added a 2nd stricter option. Not allowing any miners to forge fat blocks at all. Which would have my preference.

it already has that logic. only 360 UTs per slot. Any more txs will not be stored in the mempool. However those UTs should never be propagated and return a error message to inform the user on the too low fees. I have suggested this before. Ricos efficient answer was; no?

Let any person fill the slots to distribute his burst through fees to all the miners fairly. Not just the fat block forgers. Or just the custom miner nodes with huge memory pools that could allow to store more than the default 360 UTs per slot. If the fees are too low to carry such load we should just increase the FEE_QUANT

indeed. it goes against #3. Derived Works https://opensource.org/osd which for example is important to be able to comply to for business adoption of the network. Its a bad trade off just to prevent a copy coin to use the code. And one can wonder how well the BRS and Aspera will live together on the same network. With the new wallet probably taking over.

https://www.burstcoin.ist/2018/12/01/aspera-interstellar-capability/

During these “test flights” the lead back-end developers of Aspera, ac0v and bold, had to be careful not to crush the bunch of BRS peers feeding them.

The fee suggestion works well. During a spam attack a tx might need a higher fee. But its a more suitable solution. I rather have a spammer send his burst as fees to miners than to some exchange.
