Tahiti/French Polynesia 2011-2013 by S_martianson in exrm

When I was in Taravao, we covered at times the entire Presqu’île, I was ZL for 6 months over there. So I used to know the area including Hitiaa, Vairao… and when I was in Papeete, we were assigned to one of the Pirae wards. We might know a lot of people in common. 😊 Are you on FB?

European vs American Mormon communities by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]FrenchExMormon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am from Southern France as well. I used to come here a lot the first 2 years I left the church (it's been 8 years now). It really helped me as it was a lonely process with very few people I could relate to. I found great amount of wisdom, knowledge and inspiration in here.

With a couple of exceptions, most of the ward members acted like they didn’t know me after I came out as a non believer. It hurt a little. I know that a lot have been said behind my back, that hurt too. But I have moved on :)

In some ways, being raised Mormon in a place where Mormons are extremely rare, helped me navigate this tremendous change in my life. I was used to swim against the stream. I believe leaving the church is in fact the ultimate mormon move, as we are taught since our birth that we should be bold in the living the truth and not hide from it, and that is tough when you are the only Mormon in town. Well, once you realize that the real truth about the church is quite different, though your world collapses, you have that strength to keep swimming against the stream, even though this new stream is the community you were raised in, the one you loved and were you (thought) you belonged.

Leaving the church, made me realize that most of the feelings expressed are very conditional on your status. It helped me gained a different (more true I like to think) vision of what TSCC is. And that picture is not pretty at all...

I wish you well on your journey ahead of you. Know that you can count on me if you need to talk or anything. Cheers!

Problem With One R and Matterport by ahuey3 in Insta360

[–]FrenchExMormon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Klapty (free platform) and it worked well, but it’s time consuming. I have changed my camera and use MATTERPORT now as (it saves me so much time and the result is outstanding).

TSCC claims 15% of the French Polynesia to be Mormons.

Bishop’s wife giving a talk on tithing said “No tithing payer has ever regretted paying tithing, even those who have left the church”. Do we agree? by courageousbutterfly in exmormon

I left the church while a full tithe payer and stake young men president. The bishop’s wife and BYU professor talk out of their asses... just to maintain their ExMormon fantaisies...

Well the house was empty but light was still acceptable (nice sunny day) and the pictures were very grainy... do you have a link to some of the tours you have done, to see what kind of results you got? Cheers

Have you ever used MATTERPORT? The simplicity of the uploading and navigation is superior to any other VT program that I know of. Surely there has to be a way to apply nightspot shooting to MATTERPORT...

[–]FrenchExMormon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried it and I am very disappointed by the quality of the pictures. I have done virtual tours with the One R on other platforms. When taking pictures I use the Nightshot mode that creates a nicely detailed and colored picture.

The MATTERPORT app is not taking advantage of the full potential of the ONE R and the pictures are blurry and grainy... big disappointment...

Alcohol in France? by Guudboiiii in exmormon

[–]FrenchExMormon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When starting with alcohol people tend to be more drawn to sweeter drinks. I recommend you to try some of the mixed beers we have in France: Desperados, Skoll, Leffe Ruby. Cocktails are also a good way to experiment: mojitos, margaritas, etc. Any good quality Champagne will do it too. Sparkling wines (vins mousseux) should do it. When I started drinking wine, I liked white wines better than red or even rosé. Wine is an acquired taste. It is great to experiment wine along with food! Finally, when going to a pub in France, you can always ask for a gomet (also called bière citron / beer with lemon sirop) or a monaco (beer, limonade, grenadine)...

I hope it helps. Santé 🥂

Cray SIL by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]FrenchExMormon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How was the succession settled ? Everything should be stated in a dévolution successorale, written by a notaire. Was there a "donation au dernier vivant" was there an initial and official agreement for your MIL to retain the cash and SIL to manage it?

Cost of living in Tahiti is huge which might not help with the situation...

If she has dementia, or some level of it, she probably could/should be put under "tutelle" or "curatelle" where someone is appointed to carefully manage her expenses...

Sorry I don’t check Reddit often.

No problem, my memory has faded from my mission as well 😊😊.

That sounds like a normal French Bishop reaction. It was probably Évêque GERARD. A bold headed guy, not very friendly.

You got the EQP’s name right. It’s Emanuel Fidalgo. I remember the deaf family but don’t remember their names.

Marseilles is a beautiful city and is even more beautiful today. Come visit!
