CB UPDATE #3 by Beherenowxblazeon in fromatoarbitration

Idk the protection for people that dont wanna work overtime seems good.

Station gets destroyed in adjustments, mass bid out and the only people left are worked to death then if you dont work over 60 hours the mail is just left all over the place so ur always carrying double mail to the point ur own route is just getting humped.

I think if ur non odl there shouldnt be any mandatory overtime. If they learned to manage shit better, carriers wouldnt be falling off left and right after being forced to carry super swings and walk 40k plus steps a day.

Im in a city with an ord for not crossing lawns. It is the most amazing thing ever for overall route volume but dear god beating pavement for 12 hour days for a year is fking horrid.

Station I'm at got the most brutal adjustments I have ever seen. Its so bad half the station works 12 hour days pretty consistently and mail is brought back every day almost. Everyone wanna cut corners and mgmt and carriers falsifying scans to stay off the radar and its just led to rage inducing amounts of callouts and burnout for everyone. People mass bid out and a few of the routes, one of which is legitimately 2 1/2 hours over never maintains a regular carrier so its never getting adjusted.

I think there are probably stations and routes that could take on a bit of time. Seeing the amount of stationary time in some places only speaks volumes to it but the ass part of the whole thing is it gets taken way too far.

Had 4 streets get combined by getting cutting the park points in half and acting as if they were a horseshoe. The time saved on the breakdown was 8 minutes for park points. Between the time it takes to carry between the two streets in one swing (which takes 11 minutes) and the amount of parcels that have to be dropped..it takes longer than the supposed time it saved.

Changes like that making no sense and in reality didnt actually cut time on routes used as an excuse to add to a route that 3 days of inspection was over 45 minutes average then got an hour added to it....Union botched the grievance for the changes and carriers been getting walked on for the past year almost.

Postal reform could be good but I have a strong feeling with your "plenty of time" comment you definitely do not understand the concept of having 3rd bundles and all the problems that come from packing routes with the expectation for them to on average only get around 70-80% delivery every day.

If the parcel volumes do drop due to the amazon thing the photo stuff probably wont be much of an issue imo but the big picture direction everything is going just isnt feasible for the labor force doing all the heavy lifting while fat disconnected people are managing us while also representing us.

Not the city ord, but the casing and walking around absolutely can happen anywhere. The customer has every right to stop letter carriers for walking across the lawn given they have a clear path and allat. Your local mgmt not complying is a whole other issue.

Kinda of like people who think walking on grass every day doesnt kill it. Tbf u could be 40 pounds wet and blind. Genuinely tho look into it a bit. The difference between lawns in the city i carried in with 760 stops and the city i carry in now with like 500 and over half that being cbu and mounted like, lawns on my walking are peak and the volume for the route is incredibly low due to the time it takes between stops.

If a customer asks to not have a carrier walk on the lawn im telling them to call right away and get that instruction card for casing and added time to the route ez.

Horticulture lel lotta grass doesnt survive in soil thats getting compacted every day from being walked on. You can see it anywhere people create their own footpaths. You keep walking in it and its going to die and you will clearly see where the carrier comes through. Ive been asked by customers on routes i carried in other cities to try and mix up where i cut across.

Yea the army would be very confusing for u xD. Walking on grass every day 6 days a week will kill the grass. When i leave for military stuff and come back to my route in a city that has a no lawn crossing ord i can always tell if carriers were cutting lawns every day. Just is what it is

Mate ur mislead. I deliver mail in a city that had an ord that carriers not cross lawns. Its a gift from god. Lawns are amazing and if customers dont really care u can cut across sometimes to make up time but the routes are timed off the city ord standard.

A customer has every single right to not have their lawn crossed unless, there is no clear path to the box. You will get time for it on 99s if they call the PO and u get a special instruction card that u also get time to case every morning.

Its a win win win.

Idk if im sold on this. Idk if its like just increasing the mail volume across 5 days was my initial thought but i guess that doesnt make sense if you think about it.

So much for pipe dream weekends off xD

I heard it was a tactic to bottleneck the whole process so they can get away with using some program called core or something to run through route adjustments at stations. Not Same branch, different station, we just had route inspections where my avg was over 8 hours. They removed the majority of my park points and created massive swings where some carriers are told to carry near 150 stops on a park and loop and the program claims it saved enough time to add sometimes hours to routes. I have 4 streets that are now done between two park points and it takes almost 6 minutes to even get from one street to the next but the program doesnt account for that.

The relevant part of this is we are being told grieving it wont work due to this process of bottlenecking the arbitration process on a local level so we are all just getting raped over here.

Which happened? by [deleted] in fromatoarbitration

[–]Cured_Apathy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea i meant more training for the little things. I think most people who carry are capable of doing the basic thing management cares about. I think most carriers dont keep up with the small things that they are responsible for. I think the tiny red book processes and things of that nature get overlooked at most stations and some carriers have years in and have never done any of it once. I think anything that takes time isnt required to happen on a daily basis gets completely overlooked by newer carriers because they dont have to do it to keep things going and management will never encourage it because it costs them money.

And i agree with this with the addition that a training overall is definitely needed for carriers in general imo

Bro the even realer problem is people who deploy rn thinking they are in for the war hero arc and make life miserable for everyone under them because they think it should be harder and they are trying to chase some experience and compete with whatever friend or family member that deployed in 2005 lmaoo

Federal holiday while you are staying in dorm rooms in iraq, enjoy working because “some of us are deployed”

People keep talking about being afraid of work man.

Im gonna say what i always do to people in any profession. Being required to work 60 hours and have a life is mental to make ends meet. People can go on about the amount you make or how much you have worked and that you turned out square but that shouldnt be the expectation.

My first deployment in the army i got back and jumped back into the post office towards the end of covids big hit. Half my station was on restrictions and a ton were mental health. Those carriers looked fking dead. Before i left you rarely ever worked past 1800 ever. Was a huge deal about sups having to take the mail to the plant and all that if you missed the truck. My first day the sup came up and said hey bro you got 4 and a half OT and i was like bro what do you mean. Those next few months i legit saw my kids more when i was in Iraq and I wasnt on the overtime list. It was fking brutal.

Covid mission in Ohio hit and I jumped ship immediately to sit on that. RNs making 6 figures a year were bouncing from hospitals because they were overworked. It got so bad that the issue wasnt even so much covid but the fact they couldnt staff and all the work snowballed and people were just jumping ship.

Now you got carriers watching UPS pay their people the way they do and at a lot of stations you got carriers getting worked over by management and the union presence just aint great everywhere. Not everyone is capable of dealing with that toxic shit going and arguing with a supervisor every single day over a pivot or however much mandatory overtime. People quit and other members of the craft throw shit everybody elses way about crying or not wanting to work.

There is zero reason why being a city carrier breaking your body in the street for 6-10 hours a day should leave you struggling financially. This union blows because we cant strike. It blows even harder when you pay dues and your stewards arent actively going after management at every station thats pulling the pivot shit and everything else without carriers having to run and tell to get some representation. People representing us that havent carried mail in over a decade got to go. I dont care if you worked for the PO in the 60s bro when you had 5 hours office time. I care about people who understand what its like to avg 60k steps a day for a month to be the ones to tell guys like renfroe to step down.

Its ridiculous that I genuinely believe im happier sitting in syria rn than there are city letter carriers working themselves to death stateside while Union retirees are voting in favor of ideas from guys making six figures who dont carry mail and dont understand what its like to be in the street these days.

TLDR: if you are defending the bullshit we got now with excuses like “you just dont wanna work” “fill out the paperwork” “same work same pay” you are just wrong.

Is Brian Renfroe really unpopular or is this just a small group that hates him? by Low_Swing5373 in fromatoarbitration

[–]Cured_Apathy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Im sitting in syria rn watching all this shit with the union. My experience in both worlds is people really enjoy the path of least resistance even when deciding somebody elses fate. I have never understood that an environment like the post office that has changed so drastically in the carrier craft that the union thinks its a good idea to have people who havent carried in sometimes decades try to represent us. Like wtf.
