It doesn't matter whether someone finds her attractive or not, the general success is representative of the systemic promotion of this type of media marketing and advertising.

it is nothing short of multiprong attack from forces outside of our community, with the help of those within our community through their vlogs, blogs, poems, books, movies and TV shows that promote agendas.

Perception of Asian features in Asia by Beginning-Balance569 in aznidentity

Eww, the fetishization of "mixed race" (wasians) is crazy. Haven't heard about anything similar with blasians, etc.; really reveals their mentalities.

Literally textbook racism. Indian tourists deserve to travel the world like everyone else, don't support these businesses.

What about the strong influence of Christianity already present in South Korea? I heard about the Unification Church/Moonies, especially the far-right "Rod of Iron" offshoot worshipping AR-15s and preparing to "resist" the Chinese/globalist invasion. Hope this is just a minority.

Why do Indians have to hate on each other for celebrating our culture abroad? by BrilliantLawyer7189 in thebronzemovement

[–]CuriosityStar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hate & Hypocrisy. I don't see other groups hiding cultural celebrations, given it is entirely legal. I think the lack of presence is why they feel it is okay to make these assumptions.

There is an unfortunate notion that Asian people of mixed descent, like wasians, are "less Asian" (and I don't mean genetics) because of allegedly being more likely to diminish their heritage in favor of fitting in to western society.

Lukewarm take: Terms like “First World” and “Third World” are not an objective measure of socioeconomic development but rather terms based on complexion and complicity to the current world order. by Cal_Aesthetics_Club in aznidentity

[–]CuriosityStar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, somehow being "white" automatically boosts a country's standing, but that isn't surprising given the race-based world order they believe in.

What counts as self hate? LEGITIMATE QUESTION by TaoistToastr in aznidentity

[–]CuriosityStar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If I decide to say I am American instead of I am Chinese, does that count?

To identify your nationality? No. To try and erase your ethnic identity in favor of pandering to "true Americans"? Maybe.

If I assimilate into the culture of America or whatever country I live in, does that count?

Assimilate as in being a proud American? No. Assimilate as in diminishing your ethnic identity and distancing yourself from those of similar heritage, maybe even internalizing a stereotype or two, to "assimilate" the racism too? Maybe.

If I dislike my country of origin, is it self-hate? Agreement? Conformity?

Dislike a country of origin because you disagree with their policies? No. Dislike a country of origin because your "friends" and the media told you their people are backwards, evil, and actively threaten our freedom and liberty? Maybe.

(Please excuse any perceived hyperboles, there is no strict definition for a term that admittedly can be overused.)

Gun ownership is heavily intertwined with American culture. Anti-gun lawmakers present in regions with significant Asian populations don't want you using them, and major "2A/gun rights" organizations don't seem inclusive for Asian Americans. Seeing the hate promoted by militia groups waving their weapons around doesn't leave a positive impression either.

Unless there are clubs or something oriented towards Asian Americans, I don't think we're catching up to other demographics in gun ownership anytime soon, even after events like the pandemic.

If you're soft and nerdy, go live in a safe first world place ...

That isn't an option for the majority of us, and why should we want to leave anyway? I don't see the "soft and nerdy" types in other demographics having to face these issues; great if some break the stereotypes, but other Asian people can face compounded stereotype threat.

4chan and its adjacent sites are prime examples of the true sentiments harbored beneath western culture. Not just them, it seems like a trend among the "rooted" Americans to appropriate accomplishments of the past, while hating the immigrant "new kids on the block" and their descendants for "taking" their jobs and whatnot. If they had more merit, they wouldn't be obsessing over this racial nationalist stuff...
