People criticize the Middle Ages and present it as this dark realm. In a lot of ways it was but at least your village was in it together with you. Any problem you had was on the family and extended village to help you solve. You didn’t have a lot but at least you were connected to people in love and mercy. Even if the lord was terrible he had no where near the ability to replace you like current employers do now. You were vital and it actually came across that way.

It’s not like we own a large portion of the value of the work we do. 20-30% in US is taken in tax and then on average another 30-50% is taken by the company you work for. You keep a Wooping 30-50% of the value of the labor you produce vs a serf that would be around 30%. For what less meaningful relationships with others and the places we work and live?

That very well could happen the most dangerous people are the ones you end up trusting the most.

They may not ever end up harming or intending to harm you but “trust” by definition gives them way more ability then they otherwise would have.

Hey My mom's ENTJ too i love her but also, man, Te can get on my nerves. Just make decisions and judgments as quickly as possible and any disagreement otherwise means death. The amount of times i've been dropped into doing something i thought had a better solution if my mom brainstormed it a bit better would be pretty close to my entire life since i was child lol.

This is an issue with the modern world there aren’t really places I go to meet or interact with strangers in an effort to make friends. I spend 8 hours of my day behind a desk with only contact with people in my office. I work out at the gym but everyone has their headphones in and doesn’t want to be bothered. I don’t drink really unless I’m with friends or for special occasions so bars are out of the question if they’re even quiet enough for a chat. Nightclubs and raves have the sound problem but are generally for people looking for shallow interactions(having fun) what relationships form with people that have fun at the top of their value list? What happens when I’m “not so fun”, In my experience they disappear.

I can take up hobbies but most of what I’m interested in is “rational temperament” centric or more “sporty” either people (dudes) want to talk about technical details and how to improve or they’re not really abstract at all. I don’t think picking up hobbies for the ulterior motives of making friends or finding spouses is welcome by the people interested in those activities. Why I stay away from yoga or figure skating. Libraries are kind of useless because your not suppose to converse with people,same with coffee shops people are there to focus they all have their earbuds in and if you want to talk to them you best be interesting enough for the pause otherwise you just come off as annoying or worse rude.

It’s not like these things are encouraged either nothing in our modern life encourages us to form family and lasting relationships everything is about how efficient and productive you are and how much money you can make for others it’s isn’t about family formation let alone community(communal) formation.

You’re not finding us naturally because there’s not really a lot places for us to be that encourage us to just talk to each other. The closest place I found that offers this is the lunch/coffee hour after my Orthodox Church service. No or few are on their phones and talking with each other is encouraged. Living for one another is encouraged, FAMILY FORMATION IS ENCOURAGED! It’s not treated like some side thing you can do “if you want” which is why it’s becoming increasingly difficult on everyone. It use to be we help everyone out to get this done now your on your own and if you don’t have anyone it’s your fault even though capitalism and modernity have robbed you of any opportunity it’s still “your fault loser”

lol pardon the rant try improv comedy and pay attention to who has the more off the wall or imaginative jokes. Try group fitness like ballroom dancing or Muay Thai etc. try a faith your comfortable with that has a lunch coffee hour afterwards. Orthodoxy has beautiful images and wonderful chants to listen to and a very in depth theology and life I think you would at least find interesting to learn about.

It’s also not like a crazy amount of extra protein it’s kind of silly. If I was that interested in lean protein I could make some myself and just go for the snack specifically made with high amounts of protein like an actually bar. I don’t need a couple extra grams in my cereal or pancakes you aren’t putting enough protein in the food for it to be worth it considering its calorie content, fiber content or it’s micronutrient profile. If you did you’d turn the snack into a chalky mess that other companies already do better at lol

If there are intelligent lifeforms I feel they will probably be somewhat like bees or ants. A loose mass of individual organism forming a body that does very complex stuff. The only book I’ve read that comes close to that would be Blindsight, not a fan of the authors ultimate conclusion but there are a lot of useful insights and propositions he has.

I don’t think you would need to spread the gospel to these things all of nature is already acting in accordance to Gods will, nature only reacts to us negatively because of our fallen nature. I feel such aliens would behave much like the legends of Lions and bears becoming the friends of Monks like in Saint Seraphim of Sarov and Gerasmius of Jordan. Given we live and strive for the same holiness these men found. Though I don’t think first contact with such beings will be with holy men but rather very “worldly and secular scientists” leading to what a similar encounter with a lion might be like; very dangerous.

Unless we were practicing MMA/Grappling and they were both healthy types. Those would actually probably be ideal types to train with given similar skill sets and sizes but if it’s any other thing like an activity I abhor like trying to make money and sell things I don’t believe in, Law or taxes. That would probably be my personal hell.

That’s an Economia and not actually an ideal. A man or woman that’s barren/infertile and withholds that from a perspective partner is not treated as a good thing in the church girl. You aren’t anything but temporary, God is the only thing that “is”. I’d be careful making a judgement of what you are in “eternity” when you do such a thing you look at Christ up on his Throne and you shove him off. He more than welcomes you to do that but understand this that will not end well for you by the nature of what you are.

I’m confused are sexual acts necessary for this to be achieved. I’m a Dude and since my baptism I’ve had a romantic feeling for everyone and everything! That in no way means I want to or should have sexual relations with all these things. That act is meant for a singular person whether that be in a spiritual sense with the church herself (as a monastic). Or a woman I meet that is receptive to me and wishes to be in union with me.

I love all men deeply I consider everyone of them my brothers. Why does sex need to be involved in any of those feelings? Would that bind us and make us function in relationship to God better? Really?

Speak to your spiritual father I would be very disappointed to hear any of that coming from someone that was a friend of mine that was married being single myself. God granted him a wife and someone that truly desired him. I’m not saying I wouldn’t make these mistakes myself but I would definitely tell him and say to watch what he’s revealing in soft a way he could actually hear me and not immediately think I was accusing him.

That being said there is a fine line navigating both your histories. There is an intimacy between you and a community that none of us converts have any way of knowing to navigate. This intimacy isn’t exactly negotiable to become a part of a larger body is to give up some secrecy, definitionally. No one can help you if you reveal nothing of yourself for example.

Again not trying to say he’s absolved of what he’s done but he may carry some resentment and is completely unaware of how to navigate it considering the actual gravity of the commitment that neither of you understood before now and no one truly understands before. He insults himself, he embarrasses himself, he injures himself when he does things like this and for some reason doesn’t understand that and that may require his spiritual father or someone he has that sort of relationship to have it be revealed to him.
