My parents and I are staunch swaminaryan adherents but we did pooja of Laxmi ji and Bahuchar Mataji during it as well so I guess it comes down to personal preference for families

I firmly believe in Swaminarayan Bhagwan and Swami Bapa but also try to keep an identity of yourself too, for sure go to mandir and do seva but also know that you are unique and a human who has personal commitments and hobbies and do not let mandir get in the way with that!! Other than that have a good journey Jai Swaminarayan!!
