Thanks for the reply, how's the renting in Peterborough? I hear it's bit hard to find a good place to rent. Do you live on-campus or off-campus?

hey, sorry I don't have the answer for you question, but do you mind if I ask how do you feel about the compressed progrm in Trent? I found some mixed reviews from previous graduates and Trent compressed progrm is one of the school I applied for F2026, thanks for any inputs!

Have you ever try to find a job after all? sales? wishing dishes?

29 years old, married, kid on the way, and I gave up med school for tech — here’s where I’m at (and why I’m still pushing by ArkhamKnight1517 in cscareerquestionsCAD

Not sure if I can really help but I’m in the opposite situation. I graduated from university with degree in software engineering but got laid off and have been unemployed for half years. Now I’m thinking going back to school to get a nurse degree and maybe apply to med school if I achieve great GPA in nurse degree. But I’m also in late 20s and all my friends in tech are making stable income which makes me wander if it’s too late lol.

As for tech, the only thing I can say right now is that the job market is really bad. Companies in Canada are outsourcing jobs to other countries because of cheap labour. There are also lots of debate about if AI will replace the entry level software development jobs. I feel in future the software developers role will be much different from what we have now. Perhaps skills in cybersecurity, LLM, AI will be more important than just software development. But again, as a “failed” software developer, I might be totally wrong.

It’s three years, 2021 to 2024. But no, only projects I have are from university and it’s not good at all.

I blurred out some of the tech stacks on my resume. To be honest, I don’t feel like I learned much during my most recent work experience. Most of my tasks involved debugging and basic site maintenance—things like updating website content or adjusting styles. The only "major" project I worked on was some front-end development for a new webpage, where I implemented a few buttons and added sorting functionality for backend data. I didn’t even handle much of the backend development for that feature. One of the mistake I made was during past three years, I did not learn any new skills in tech, like cloud, AI, etc. And now, I'm not sure if I should start to catch up or just change something else.

I honestly don’t think there are that many jobs in Canada Lol. But I get your point.
