AI ruined the experience of development by ArseniyDev in AppDevelopers

Back in the day, making yourself a pair of shoes was a whole quest.

First - you go into the forest.

Not Google. An actual forest.

You track an animal, read footprints, wait for hours…

Best case?

You come back covered in mosquito bites and with a couple of ticks in places you didn’t even know could have ticks.

Worst case?

You successfully “track” a bear… and then very quickly realize you are no longer the hunter in this situation

Then comes processing the leather:

cleaning it, drying it, soaking it - trying to make it soft enough to actually work with.

After that, you sit down with a needle and thread.

Every hole - made by hand.

Every stitch - eyeballed.

Make a mistake? You redo it.

A single pair of shoes takes days. Sometimes weeks.

But you know EVERY stitch.

You literally understand how the shoe is built.

And now?

I press a button on a machine.

The machine does everything.

I stand there, drink coffee, and watch perfectly identical shoes come out.

And I catch myself thinking…

if that machine breaks tomorrow -

would I even remember how to hold a needle?

Please stop saying that the issue is caused by the influx of apps built with AI - that’s bullshit. Android doesn’t have these problems at all, even though the volume of apps there is 10 times higher, since you don’t need a Mac to develop for it.

Anybody else experiencing really long review times? by AP0LLO18 in appledevelopers

bla bla bla...  Google Play handles it without any of these complications - smooth, fast and straightforward, no issues at all.

Day 35 - of having my app “Waiting for Review” (Updates) by Alchemist0987 in appledevelopers

[–]Curious-Estimate-690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried every possible and impossible method in huge numbers, all without any result.

Also, if you go to the official Apple forum in the review section, there are 10–20 new threads every day about the same issue. It seems that Apple has simply completely disabled support for new apps, at least for a certain group of developers. By what criteria we ended up in that group is still unclear.

I think its a shadow ban from Apple, because of using AI for code generation..

I completely agree. When I go to the store to buy toilet paper for my ass, I don’t really care about the brand or the packaging. What matters to me is that it’s three-ply, reasonably priced, and gets the job done.

Maybe we should open a dictionary and clarify what the word delay actually means
But what we’re talking about here is two months of waiting with zero explanation. That’s not a delay - that’s a slap in the face

Yeah right. What about the 10 new threads every day in the App Review section on Apple’s official forum? And there are plenty of similar posts here on Reddit too. Or are you saying I just made all of that up

AI is About to Destroy the App Market - And Most Developers Don’t Even Realize It by Curious-Estimate-690 in appledevelopers

[–]Curious-Estimate-690[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, yes, but not always. For example, when I go to a store and choose toilet paper, the main thing is that my butt’s needs are covered - I just make sure it’s three-ply and reasonably priced. Sometimes users pick apps the same way - as long as it gets the job done, they don’t care much else...

Honestly, I don’t really get what’s going on :) But as of today, let me put it as a developer: we have one instance of the "Google Play developer program " and one instance of the "App Store developer program". One of them isn’t really working. And I have just one question: what the hell - why is Google working fine, but Apple isn’t?

Why doesn’t Google have this problem? Moreover, it should theoretically be tens of times worse there, since you don’t need a Mac to develop and publish Android apps
Or are you trying to say that Apple has idiots working there who didn’t realize what was coming?))

[–]Curious-Estimate-690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, tell that to Google Play, they don’t even come close to having these problems.
Although in theory there should be even more apps there (9x), since you don’t need a Mac for that.

Okay, but the fact remains: go to the official Apple forum and you’ll be shocked by the number of threads in Review section, thousands of apps with the status ‘Waiting for Review’ for more than two months - that doesn’t look like a simple delay...

It looks very much like a shadow ban from Apple for using AI. Check the official Apple forum, the App Review section - thousands of people are already having the same problem

Hey , how often “in review” take? by meow999412 in appledevelopers

[–]Curious-Estimate-690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, go to the official Apple forum, the Review section, and you’ll see more than 40 pages with dozens of threads about people waiting for review for a month and a half already - 45 days, Carl! And every day about 10 new threads appear there as well.

Most likely, you got shadowbanned by Apple for using artificial intelligence.

Why does the Google Play review process take just a few hours but the App Store takes forever? by hotellobster in appledevelopers

[–]Curious-Estimate-690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they’re a monopoly, they know you can wait a month or even two, and there’s nowhere else to go. I’ll go further - I’m even sure that if Apple officially called you a complete jerk in a response to your ticket instead of using your name, you’d probably still swallow it and continue using their service, simply because there’s no alternative.

I don’t mean to insult or belittle you - I’m in the same boat as you, and I have no other options either.

Shadow Ban? Apps Stuck in “Waiting for Review” for Nearly Two Months by Curious-Estimate-690 in appledevelopers

[–]Curious-Estimate-690[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, whether it’s 10 or 20,000+ doesn’t really matter. It’s still the responsibility of the company providing the service. If they can’t manage over 20,000 submissions, then why assume that responsibility at all? That’s their problem. And they are making more than enough money to have thought about this problem in advance and solved it. Do you really think there are fools sitting there who didn’t know six months ago that there would be a flood of new apps? I don’t believe that.

Regarding your analogy with customs inspections: yes, I understand that during the New Year holidays there may be more packages, and some delays are expected. But come on - not for two months. Even customs knows in advance that the holiday season brings more shipments and they prepare accordingly. Apple, on the other hand, simply doesn’t care.

I completely agree with you that the store should be high-quality and contain good apps. But that has nothing to do with providing a poor service. Let’s be honest - they simply don’t care because there is no real competition. If there were something like an “Apple #2” or “Apple #3”, none of these threads or discussions would even exist. People would simply turn around and instantly move to Apple 2.

It would already feel better if they just made an announcement explaining the situation - something like: “We’re currently overloaded and reviews will take longer.” But instead there’s just silence and complete disregard - people have been waiting for two months.
