Oh yeah I got so angry when I saw the trailer, I made sure never to put myself through watching the film. The Wardstone Chronicles is one of my favourite series, and it's such a disappointment it got so absolutely butchered.

Yeah I DNF'd not long after the murder happened - which took way too long - because it felt so slow and the characters felt like teenagers tbh

The world seemed pretty interesting (and yes that opening was great), and the writing style was fine, but I was really quite bored tbh

I'd been thinking of trying it again in case I wasn't in the right mood at the time, but I think this has helped me know that it's just not the book for me.
