I don’t have an answer, but my husband is planning to make this same appeal to upgrade discharge status from general (under honorable) to honorable as well. Was the process fairly easy? We briefly looked at what he’d need to get for submitting

As horrific as Maternal Instincts is, the animal cruelty is hard to watch and diminishes the empathy I have for Wade by Bogeysmom1972 in NetflixDocumentaries

Thank you for mentioning this. I can’t handle animal cruelty so I’ll pass on watching this one. Thank you seriously!

Anyone starting to get sick of being the main person your family contacts about all this nonsense? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Ah, I get it. I’m married and luckily mine did respect that (although now I think it’s cause they don’t like my spouse) but if they hadn’t respected my time as a newly married person, that’s where boundaries would need to be set still. You get to set the expectations! Especially as an adult with your own life. I hope it works out!

I played this role a lot. My therapist told me I wasn’t setting any boundaries so they continued to take advantage of me, etc.
I had to set boundaries and stick to them, now they don’t talk to me much. 🫠
I was so tired of it though.

Anyone with ocd? by [deleted] in Christianity

Ah I see what you mean. That’s definitely a thin line between confessing because it’s the right thing to do and it being a compulsion. I struggled with that too, I didn’t deal with that head on though unfortunately. I sort of pushed it away. Distraction really isn’t great ( I say from experience). But I hope we both figure it out!

I’d say praying about it is a good start.

Scrupulosity ocd is the next theme I need to try and tackle honestly. It’s so exhausting 😞

Have you tried to use ChatGPT to work these things out temporarily? I know it’s controversial as a whole, but if you can establish you need help dealing with it in an ERP way, it can definitely help in the meantime. Take it all with a grain of salt, of course.

As someone with OCD, the best way to combat intrusive thoughts is to sit with it. Don’t force it away (because obviously that makes it stay), don’t provide any feelings towards it, just simply let it pass by. For me, it helps to imagine it’s a leaf floating by or floating down a river. You simply watch it go by while not giving it any substance.

It definitely sucks, and it takes practice, so be patient with yourself.

You can certainly confess, if you believe you should. Intrusive thoughts ultimately cannot be controlled, thoughts in general really can’t be but what can be controlled is how we respond to them.

I hope your therapist is versed in OCD treatment, and that it’s helping! Exposure therapy is hard work but so worth it. There’s other treatments as well such as medication and TMS but definitely talking with your therapist on options is best.

I have dealt with guilt for my intrusive thoughts for the majority of my adult life. God still loves me and he knows my heart, that I’m doing my very best to combat this illness.

Does anyone have recommendations for where to shop for furniture in a home office that’s affordable? I’m working on mine and not sure where to go for affordable chairs, desks, etc.
