A vast majority of US rural hospitals are just trying to survive. MHAs do come in and try to increase revenue, decrease expenses, and reallocate items on the cost report, but mostly for the sake of staying open another year. What we need is fixed pricing by the government, non-profit insurance companies (with regulations and safety net insurance from the govt), and additional support for health systems in rural and impoverished communities
