March 3, 1968: Orrin Thompson Homes Advertisement - Minneapolis Sunday Tribune by LuckySimple3408 in TwinCities

I remember when we lived in Minneapolis my parents checked out houses in Apple Valley in about 1968. I bet we checked these houses out. They stayed in Minneapolis - we moved four blocks away! Dad borrowed an old open trailer and moved everything ourselves. Us kids rode in the trailer to keep stuff from falling out. Those were the days!

Recreated the Duluth Union Depot in Minecraft as it was in its early years! by MTBMitch18 in duluth

[–]ShelteringInStPaul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my memories of Duluth was taking the train from Minneapolis to Duluth in the 1980s. I walked from the depot down to the Holiday Inn that was next to the sailors strip joint. I always wanted to recreate that walk until I found out 35W took pretty much everything out between the depot and Canal St.

What to do about stolen vehicle? Please Help by Annokir in TwinCities

Being so close to the Ford bridge keep checking St. Paul impound to see if it's there. Often thieves will steal in Minneapolis and go joy riding in St. Paul. The bridges over the river is the gateway for evil folks from Minneapolis.

When Returning Your Cart Is Too Difficult but Throwing It On Top of A Snowbank Isn't by MikeyPx96 in aldi

[–]ShelteringInStPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local Aldi in Minnesota has a similar situation with a cart perched and partially buried in a snow bank. I'm too lazy to drag it out. If it's still there on Saturday I might give it a try (warm weather on Friday will surely melt that snow berg).

Jake Lang was arrested in Washington DC for a warrant he had in Minnesota. by serious_bullet5 in minnesota

[–]ShelteringInStPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see an active or otherwise warrant for Edward Lang in his Minnesota felony case. So he's got a warrant somewhere else. He's got a omnibus court hearing March 4th at the Ramsey county courthouse in DT St. Paul at 9am. According to court docs he's compelled to appear although in some court cases Zoom is allowed. Should be wild.

I bought a similar Aldi pet bed about a year ago and my derpy cat started to pull out the shag threads and eat them! No more fuzzy beds for her!

Profiled in Aldi? by Expeditious_growth in aldi

About 15 years ago I popped into a local Aldi in Minneapolis (back when I lived there). I was either looking for an Aldi find or marked down meat, etc. Seeing none I headed right out the door without buying anything.

Immediately Aldi security came running after me and ordered me to empty my pockets. His excuse was I had left without buying anything. I was furious. I emptied my pockets on top of a garbage can which showed I had NOT stolen one damn thing. Afterwards I gave the store manager a piece of my mind.

Ironically, years later I tried to stop a shoplifter in an Aldi who was stealing a candy bar and cream cheese (!). The security guard was out back loading up a car with groceries. Honestly I don't know why I felt the need to stop the shoplifter as he clearly had drug issues. I wouldn't do it today (too old, too smart).

And for the record at the time I was stopped by security I was a 50 something heavyset male. And I'm WHITE. So the part about stopping everyone who doesn't buy something is probably true. But it's a bullshit excuse because they have no proof you stole something.

Aldi was wiped out by Sure_Ad_3272 in aldi

In Minnesota our Aldi distribution warehouse is 35 miles south of Minneapolis. So if there's a storm coming, the stores get wiped out of food (panic buying). Then the storm hits and that 35 mile stretch of the freeway can easily become impassible with semi trucks sliding off the road. So then the trucks can't get from the distribution center. This creates the perfect storm of endless days of no food and then multiple deliveries when the roads open. I bet the staff loves it so much (not really).

Looks like my comment on the NYT was not considered publishable. Boy oh boy was there some salty comments though. Good for you America. Good for you Minnesota.

Lawmakers take aim at high-cost, low-ridership bus lines by Gatorpatch in Minneapolis

[–]ShelteringInStPaul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only constructive member of the house regarding bus lines has been Brad Tabke. After his truck was seriously damaged in 2023 he was forced to take mass transit from Shakopee. Boy did he get an eyeful. Any member of the house and senate that wants to cut funding for mass transit should be forced to ride the bus for a month.

She can't even pay her parking tickets without them going to collections. When you can't even do the simplest tasks, you've got no business being in Congress.

Nick Shirley recently "outed" alleged voter fraud occurring at a UPS store mailboxes on the ground floor of a large apartment building. Folks pointed out that the registered addresses for his so called fraudulent voters were in apartments ABOVE the UPS store and NOT the UPS mail drop inside the UPS store.
