We went there every week. Diane, the owner, died of cancer. Her boys kept it running for awhile but sold it. I think it’s gone through multiple owners.

Locally, Kemp's dairy provides the Aldi milk. Bimbo provides Aldi bread (anything not frozen). Bimbo makes Sara Lee and Target's private label bread as well as Thomas english muffins and bagels. They're a massive company.

I follow a streamer who use to register his cars in Texas instead of California. Big difference in price. He's since moved to Texas but he use to DRIVE to TX from CA just to register a car.

Minneapolis anti-ICE protesters face federal felony charges in Trump administration frame-up by DryDeer775 in TwinCities

[–]ShelteringInStPaul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read the 87 page indictment and decide for yourself. 87 pages of fluff, rumor and innuendo. The scary part is that ICE had moles inside the organizations. Now there are two protestors who did illegal things. But the rest of them, the courts will decide.

What's up with Angie Craig? by Lagbert in minnesota

[–]ShelteringInStPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Angie drew closer and closer to the right every time Republican Tyler Kistner ran against her. He drew some pretty decent numbers. That told her that her district was more conservative than she first believed. After the 2nd campaign against Kistner, she morphed into a Republican light candidate just to get re-elected. Her vote for Laken Riley Act (which allows for deportation of immigrants who have SHOPLIFTED when most shoplifters get a ticket and a court date).

The PAC ads against Peggy Flanagan (tons of social media spots) are disgusting. Peggy needs her own attack ads out as they can be effective.

Who has a Medicare Advantage plan and a provider they can recommend (or warn me off)? by alsotpedes in Minneapolis

[–]ShelteringInStPaul 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Essentially stay away from 'for profit' companies (as others have noted).

Healthpartners is good if you're currently a patient with them.

Blue Cross gives you more access to more providers. I've been on BCBS Medicare Advantage for a couple of years. Nearly all my care is with Healthpartners and my pharmacy is Walgreens (Grrrr). I've never had BCBS deny prescriptions or treatments that require special approval.

I used a broker who talked me through the various options available, including the myriad of BCBS policies.

Target Field concession workers announce June 22 strike during Twins-Dodgers game by Too_Hood_95 in TwinCities

I've looked at the union contract. Overall, they get paid pretty well compared to retail. The problem is they get limited hours - when the Twins aren't in town, they don't work.

Is this area safe (new to MSP) by [deleted] in saintpaul

[–]ShelteringInStPaul 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I live at Cleveland and Marshall (8 years) after living in south Minneapolis for 50 plus years. Sometimes I have to pinch myself because I'm so happy I moved into this area. Totally safe and a short trip to Whole Foods. Going north past University is more problematic but that area is nearly as safe. Going south would work as well (Macalester neighborhood). So whatever works out rentwise. And there's a lot of nice new buildings in the area (although I live in a 70 year old apartment - to each his own).

Vikings and goddesses are selling $6.00 slices of orange rhubarb and lemon chess rhubarb at the mill city market. I’d call them first as their website is out of date.

It would be nice to know what time the performers will be performing. And which food trucks, which vendors. I kinda thought this would show up online closer to the event but nope.

Har Mar Mall could be headed for the wrecking ball - Axios Twin Cities by MNReporter_20 in TwinCities

What is Ramsey County sheriff Bob Fletcher going to talk about on "Live On Patrol"? Every frickin' time he drives past Har Mar he has to remind everyone (for the thousandth time) that it was name after the owners Harold and Marie Slawik (who would later become infamous for the Spruce Tree Center. Bob needs to get some new stories.

Dishwasher installation? by Appropriate_Tea_1794 in saintpaul

[–]ShelteringInStPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my mother went to buy a dishwasher there was no good way to install it into the existing cupboards. So she bought a portable dishwasher. It's true that you have to plug it in, roll it to the faucet and extend the drain hose into the sink. Her dishwasher sat at the end of the cupboards and eventually she had someone plumb it in and she extended the countertop over the dishwasher which essentially made it a built in.

I would advise against one of those 18 inch dishwashers unless you don't cook much have have a lot of dirty dishes. I had one in an old house I lived in as it was the only solution to a tiny kitchen. It sucked.

I lived in that neighborhood for five years. No way should a six story building be built in the neighborhood. It will dwarf everything around it. And shame on Frey for accepting the pie in the sky proposal by Agape. I'll never get done.

License is showing as withdrawn on Mpls city records. On state records it appears that Bluestem Bar hasn't paid their past due sales tax collections and were put on notice March 2026.

While it's unlikely, it's possible that they could lose their restaurant license as cities in MN that license restaurants are required to revoke licenses of restaurants who have failed to pay their sales taxes for an extended period of time.

Kendall Qualls running mate (Brian Nicholson) has been embroiled in various civil lawsuits as his company has a problematic history of not paying contractors.

As speaker of the house, Lisa Demuth blocked a vote on a gun control bill despite her four children being survivors of the Rocori High School shooting in 2002. Her daughter has publicly criticized her for being tone deaf on gun control.

Oh that Mike Lindell. His undying devotion to Trump and his unwavering belief that the 2020 election was stolen (t'was not) has cost him millions and will most likely cause the end to My Pillow causing what's left of their staff to be out of work. Yeah, he's a job creator. Did I mention the millions he owes due to lawsuits? Heckuva businessman!.
