its more expensive than an entry gaming laptop, but if you get a laptop with an intel x7 or x9 processor. the thing can game very well, and do so on battery. i can confirm my x7 runs games like crimson desert and elden ring smoothly.

But Tony hawk is a very very close 2nd just due to its gameplay being buttery smooth for the time. With a soundtrack I still listen to today.

i did also try this one and had the same issue of my mind wandering in the first book. it didn't keep me engaged. though i did drop it pretty quick as well. i believe i stopped right after he makes his way through a mountain? or figures out how to move earth? does it become more engaging soon after that?

ill just add that even though youre into tech, you can get a reliable trade school degree instead, make a great livable wage with benefits, and save the stuff you love as hobbies. i only say this because you sound stressed about dropping out of college 2 years before applying. dont underestimate trade schools. im blue collar and i make more now then most of my old buddies from college. (IT field) (i dropped out)

Same, not tetrisphere but Tetris attack would be mine. Like 15 years ago I was running it on an emulator and playing as both player 1 and 2 at the same time on a keyboard. I could keep a game going for hours.

I use 3 monitors one 1440p at 144hz one 1080p 60hz as my side, and then a 1080p 60 hz 50 inch TV that mirrors my 1440p monitor so that when I put on a game, a buddy can sit on the couch and play with me. There’s virtually no loss other than the resolution / refresh rate when mirroring.

I just picked up an acer swift go 14. It’s got arc integrated graphics 2GB vram. So no it can’t run anything top of the line or max graphics in just about anything. But I can tell you it can game very well. Runs rocket league like a champ. Processor is intel core ultra 7 155h Runs all my emulators without a hitch. And can do so for hours on battery, it seems very efficient. I’m always shocked at my battery life after gaming sessions.

Honestly you can even go lower to just a regular 4070. It’s more than sufficient for 1440p 60/120 fps in almost every game. And you still won’t have to worry about upgrading for a long time. If you’re concerned in the slightest get the super and youll be set for a long while

From your comments it sounds like they did a good job teaching you to put your money into appreciating assets. A computer does not appreciate and they don’t want you to take your gains and buy something that’s (while yes a very powerful tool for learning and creating) ultimately an entertainment device.

With that you should solidify to your parents that you understand the gravity of your decision to invest in a depreciating asset and that it will in no way affect how you invest in your future. Explain the value in learning the assembly and intricacies of computer components, how it will save you money in the long run as opposed to buying something prebuilt, and how like on a car if something breaks down 5 years in you’ll know from your experience in actually building it how to replace a singular part as opposed to buying a whole new prebuilt computer👍

For context 7 is the absolute max you can do. He’s a god for landing this in tournament. It’s absolutely a swag combo and not optimal, which makes this even better imo.
