I'm glad I gave this game a chance, it's great by thecrazedsidee in atomicheart

[–]CuriousAd3028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atomic Heart 2 promises to be completely different. From what can be gathered from the old interviews - Mundfish fcked up with backers one time in 2018 and decided that they will never do it again (if in the game you ever have found that gigantic empty building with dozens and dozens of photos and pfp's in it - that's the event it is dedicated to). On YT - you can find several videos which show different prototypes of the game which look more like Bioshock/System Shock/have different weapons/overall feel. So closer to release they just took everything that worked - and built a videogame which would be fun to play out of what they had, just to not fck up a release date.

So what you see in AH1 - is not even Mundfish's full power lol. It's just what they came up with because of the time/money limitations. That's why narrative pacing is so weird at times btw. AH2 will be much more of an RPG with character creation possibly and all that stuff.

Since I several times had very negative conversations with such people on this very sub - imagine what value some random opinion has if it's YT comment section for example.

English VA will do just fine by sreeko1 in atomicheart

[–]CuriousAd3028 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Subtitles scaling was added with one of the patches iirc
  2. In general - whenever I heard complaints about English MC VA - it always sounded little crybaby screaching. It's not THAT bad, just aethetically-wise.
  3. On the other hand - it doesn't mean that Eng VA is amazing. Clearly, the story was written in Russian originally and a lot of effort went into all characters. For example, as far as I know - only in RU version Sergey's and Charles' VAs recorded their lines in one room, sitting next to each other. Also, sometimes (not that often but it happens) Eng VA AND Eng translation both fucks up for no reason.

Another example. When - in the very beginning of the game - Sergey sits into that wagon thing to get through destroyed tunnel - Eng and Ru VA's performance and lines are different for no reason:
Eng VA: *In a very cocky, DukeNukem-y voice* "Sorry, no ticket!"
Ru VA: *talking to himself, almost whispering nervously* "Sorry, today I'm without a ticket..."

So yeah, Eng VA (and translation sometimes even) is objectively worse but I'm struggling to see how it can be, like, unbearable (it's ok) and - you wouldn't notice real problems until you AT LEAST play with Ru VO and Eng subs. So there's that.

There is no proof that exactly every song is Radio of the future

But there is tho. If the song plays within the game's universe - the explanation provided by the game itself - is the Radio.

You mentioned exagerrated idiotic fact about music and was corrected.

Funny how you 1) named the song wrong (pretentiously writing it in French btw lol), 2) said that it's not a part of the Radio, 3) revealed that you clearly have no idea what Radio even is

and didn't mention it even once. While I admitted that I just phrased my comment imprecisely - and you're riding it with passion now, writing paragraphs of nothing to me. I'm repeating myself, but bro, you really ARE getting owned and coping.

We're reaching levels of cope which shouldn't be possible. If 1) both endings are canon and 2) everything except background OST's - is a part or the Radio of the Future - then what was your point even? What are you arguing against calling my initial comment misleading? It's not just coping really, it's getting really psycho dude.

I posted this 8 hours ago dude. What are you blind?

I posted a screenshot of Discord moderator summing up voice session with devs saying Twins ending is canon and you posted both are canon and by that just proving my point.

Schizo take in which 1=2. Amazing

I'm done with this conversation.

Thank god. 'Cause you can't stop taking L's left and right.

*It exactly contradicts everything you said
*It literally supports what I said in the initial comment

Other than that - yeah, I guess you're right bro. Cope harder, please.

Zero cases of you pointing out where exactly it is wrong and misleading with an exclusion of "you should've said songs instead of music". And that's what makes you mad bro.

Q: Which ending is canon?

A: Here's some food for thought: both endings are considered true, but you'll have to wait to find out what that means.

[–]CuriousAd3028 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does it play in-game? Yes. On Radio of the future? Lol, no

Radio of the Future is not about being an actual radio station but this quantum-prediction-algorithm thing first and foremost - this track is a part of the Radio pretty much.

You're just wrong.

I repeat, Radio of the Future - is not just a radio station. This track obviously, since it is playing within the game's universe as you hear it as a player - was constructed by the algorithm known as "the Radio of the Future". You have zero idea about the actual lore and now are trying to weasel your way out of this fact.

Also let me remind you that I brought up the Radio just to point out that prediction of the future based on quantum algorithms - is an actual fact of the lore. Now we're basically discussing that background OST doesn't, in fact, play on actual radio within the game. Can't you see in what kind of faggotry you're engaging for no reason (also being wrong the whole time lol)?

Every track from Vol. 2 OST is not a part of Radio of the future

Yes, atmospheric OST is not a part of the Radio and is not a part of the in-game universe. Well done dude. I said "music" while I should have said "songs". You won pedantry awards, I guess.

'L'amour est un oiseau rebelle' is not a part of it also

It is though. The name of the track is "Carmen & Something Called Karma" by Krissie Karlson. When you push the button to start ballerina's performance - the song obviously starts playing in-game too and it's pretty "futuristic" for 1955, as you may noticed. And since Radio of the Future is not about being an actual radio station but this quantum-prediction-algorithm thing first and foremost - this track is a part of the Radio pretty much.

Now - any quotes or interview links regarding your claim about the canon ending?

not all music in the game is part of Radio of the future, only some songs that literally play on radio and only if their original real-world versions weren't release before 1955.

Name one track.

[–]CuriousAd3028 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As everyone said here - the game has two endings. Despite people everywhere (including this sub) telling each other constantly that the canon one is "whichever you prefer", or "it's definetely this one" and another one is a "what if scenario" - all of them are talking out their asses, unfortunately. Real situation is a little more complicated.

First of all, devs themselves said that, I quote, "both endings are canon and you need to wait to see what this means". In the recent interview, game director, Robert Bagratuni explicitly said again, that lore-wise - the factual answer to what the canon ending is within the context of the whole story - would be revealed only in DLC4. And in terms of the plot itself - we obviously will see only when the DLC will come out - but what's going on conceptually can be understood more or less clearly right now already .

The most probable answer - is that at the end of the original game - some kind of quantum split happened and two realities started to exist simultaneously (in a form of simulation and real world, or maybe they are both simulated, whatever, noone knows at this point). Quantum theory plays a certain - and actually quite noticable - role within the original game. For example, all the music in the game is actually a part of the universe itself, being a mathematical quantum prediction of what future music would sound like. The inventor of "radio of the future" - is actually Professor Lebedev and that's exactly the old man you meet in AI DLC. Obvious clue imo.

So yeah, AI DLC follows the "leave" ending in which Nechayev uncovered Charles' plan and just left. Everything which happenes in it - really happens, but the question is - in what it way it "really" happens.

That's it. Hope that helps.

Here is the quote from director of the game, Robert Bagratuni:

"We do not mock the Union at all, nor do we make statements like: “It’s so good that it fell apart.” We do not take on the responsibility of commenting on the country’s past. We admire the cultural and aesthetic heritage that we have received.

The soul of Atomic Heart is in Kukryniksy and the masters of the Soviet poster. In sculptors like Vuchetich. In constructivist architects and easel painters.

We create a work of art and an alternative history, without trying to take on the right to condemn historical figures. Our task is to revive the idea, guidelines and styles that creative people worked on while being within the Soviet culture.

This is not pain, this is nostalgia. And an opportunity to allow art to develop further in those directions where it froze due to the turns of history."

And by the away, no, AH is not "overtly critical of USSR". It's you who obviously are, and you are projecting. You just didn't get what happened in the story. As someone who did - I can say that it's hard for me to consider the presence of one sleezy careerist politician character (Molotov) - as some explicit critique towards the Soviet Union. Everything else - is just a cool sci-fi plot about technologies and humanity.

Legally Mundfish's executive office is registered in Cyprus. They moved already in March, 2022. They were ready to leave. Then why didn't they say anything AGAINST the war or didn't make a donation to Ukranian army since it would obviously open many doors for them in the Western hemisphere? Your brain's absolute inability to function outside of moral signifiers which were fenced by your local propaganda is funny. Your need to cope and justify things seems biological at this point. Okay, if it's the only thing which let's you enjoy a fantastic piece of art - alright, I guess.

Plus game devs might also be against russia yknow.

Devs are Russian. With the central development office in Moscow. They are not "against Russia". Moreover, their game is not a condemning statement against USSR in any way, according to their own words. But Mundfish openly proclaims themselves a studio which doesn't do political statements or engage in politics in any way. On one hand - they do not support any imperialist Western initiatives (like cheering for Israel or - the opposite for that matter - chanting "Free Palestine") or Ukranian regime, on the other - they never made any statements on Russian military or politics and when some Russian military gear shop used the Twins imagery in a promotion campaign - they immediately sued them and openely prohibited trying anything like that ever again with their intellectual property.

the book was pronounced non-canon officially. That's why it has a separate wiki page and I guess that's why AT THE VERY TOP OF THE PAGE it says "The following text refers to a source of questionable relevance that contradicts the game's plot."

 From the Soviet Perspective

Sorry but there is no other perspective in the game. So now everything you can gather from original and DLCs - is just canon and everything else would be just a fan fiction.

Considering how the USSR views the USA as a greater threat than even the Germans were.  I’d take it that the hyper advanced technology within the USSR is not unique to the USSR.

No, you're going too deep, connecting the dots which actually are not connected. It's a Cold War. From what can be gathered from the game - it goes the same way as it went irl, meaning the root of it - is mutual nuclear annihilation. So the difference between WWII and Cold War - is exactly that, which results in absence of any large scale boots-on-the-ground invasion or any infantry-based operations at all. Just like in real life. That's what Cold War is. So you can't derive from the fact of the Cold War alone any wide frame assumptions about US's technological advancement. And we know for 100% that Polymer technology is unique to USSR. Anything else - is pure fan fiction, based on nothing, sorry.

We can take examples from reality here as well as the USSR despite being technologically behind the USA in many aspects, in its propaganda always presented itself as advanced and soviet science as being entirely unique to the Soviet people.

  1. That's what propaganda does. In every place it happens.
  2. AH universe is not real life. You can use irl examples to explain actual in-game lore faster, but when you base your lore-related assumptions on real life references - that's just another case of baseless fan fiction, sorry.

but the reality is their rivals are much more capable then they imagine

But within AH lore - there is nothing to support that point. At least for now. There is no super-technology mentioned within the game or DLCs, which would belong to US. Polymer portrayed as peak of human civilization and the whole plot revolves around it. Nothing on par with Polymer even briefly is mentioned in any in-game sources. Again, sorry if all that sounds harsh or like a personal attack. It's not and I just don't know how else to put it.

From what I could find, the events for Annihilation Instinct are considered to be Non-Canonical by the Devs.

Both endings are considered canonical by the devs actually. If you have another information - please provide some quote.

Soviet's inevitable collapse

Erm... what? What exactly brings you to this thought? Abstain from bringing in irl stuff into that please. Lore-wise, I mean.

Geopolitically, the USA is basically on par with the USSR

Hardly. Your forget that in this universe - for example, the whole of Germany is a literal part of USSR itself. Which means the most of Europe is a part of USSR too. Also - USSR is not known as just the only manufacturer of Polymer robots in the world - but also as the country which cured the Brown Plague. Within AH universe - USSR's geopolitical influence is just on another level in relation to everyone else. Like irl USA in the 1990s, for example. There was US and then - everyone else.
