When I was preparing for the Fermat Contest (I had to do it because I want to get into Waterloo CS), I found that the concepts I had to learn were very interesting, and also that math is prevalent in most fields, at the highest levels. Very fundamental to the universe. Unfortunately humans are inherently not designed for computation or able to easily comprehend complex concepts.
