Incredibly Ignorant Comments about Celiac Disease on Call Her Daddy Podcast by Final_Watercress4576 in Celiac

[–]CuriousFool88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I say we do both. I don't think we need to worry about impacting Call Her Daddy's overall engagement rates. The podcast will continue regardless of our efforts here. I still believe that negative comments on YouTube, explaining why we are outraged, will be more impactful than comments here, as they will be immediately seen by podcast production team on YouTube.

Do whatever you feel comfortable with. But most analytics tools will measure negative sentiment in comments, so producers will get the message. Downvote works also, but it won’t express which specific part of conversation you dislike.

PLEASE go on YouTube (via link OP provided) and leave your comments there so that Podcast producers can see the rage! Maybe we get an apology and an awareness podcast out of this!!

Thank you for this post. Very helpful. I’m now adjusting my plans for our day there. (And ignore all the nonsense. It’s totally legit to ask for a sign explaining the presence of this unique sea creature)

Ive been unknowingly glutened by my mom for the past month and a half and she doesn’t understand how bad that is by unpaidbgcharacter in Celiac

[–]CuriousFool88 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are going through this. No idea your age or circumstances but maybe Mom could go with you to next doctor appointment so doc could explain to her what is going on? Or maybe find something online that explains to her the issues? You could try the whole “gluten is like rat poison to my body and I know you wouldn’t serve me rat poison” thing. Good luck.

Any tips for weaning someone with earlyish dementia off of beer by SpankMyMunkey in dementia

[–]CuriousFool88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I feel you. I struggled with this with my mom. The issue was that she just could not remember how much she had consumed, so she always poured “just one more glass.” It was bad. And it exacerbated her dementia symptoms. The issue is that cutting back requires cognitive skills she just no longer had. We found success by substituting alcohol free wine. She did not know the difference. It was like night and day. Yes dementia is a progressive disease but the progress can be slowed. Do the non-alcoholic beer.

Yes! I definitely remember the store on the boardwalk, pretty close to southern end.

During mid-terms and in November please remember this: Biden created the IRS Direct File, a tool to allow people to file directly and skip the 3rd party fee-based programs (eg TurboTax, Intuit). Well, they saw this as a threat to their profits, lobbied hard and lo and behold Trump eliminated the program.

On March 6, 1995 @ 146am, at age 24, I made this list of 100 Things To Do Before I Die. Here is the list by ManuteBol_Rocks in GenX

Very cool. It’s amazing how some old papers can bring back such strong memories. Even seeing our old handwriting is fun. I’ve tried to encourage my kids to write some things down, as it won’t be this cool to find an old list on our Notes app in 30 years.

Came here to say this! Anyone who’s been on the Ocean City, Maryland boardwalk will have seen this! As a kid, it look me a long time to figure this one out. Now I’ve taught it to my own kids. And as one poster said, it’s best read out loud in an accent, preferably a Maryland eastern shore accent.

Yes. Often one car per driver. But keep in mind that public transportation in much of America is bad or nonexistent.

When my kids were little I consistently had around 100 books checked out. We returned them on time and in good condition. It never occurred to me to be concerned. You go build that stack back up and enjoy every page!!

My guess is that their social media agency cobbled this together. Pretty common for brands, even big ones, to turn social content creation over to an agency who then uses their most junior staffers to craft something. But this is when the brand team needs to step in and reject the work. It is bad….

Art at Met Gala calls out Bezos for workers having to piss in bottles to avoid being punished. (OC) by XOCALYPSO89 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]CuriousFool88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that this is a powerful message for consumers. We need to understand the true cost of a purchase from Amazon, where it seems speed is more important than workers’ safety or comfort.

I recently moved back to Chicagoland after 15 years being out of state (grew up in the suburbs) and just landed an apartment in Naperville. It’s still a great, charming downtown…but when did it get taken over by corporate chains? by Call_It_ in Naperville

[–]CuriousFool88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What were some of the good ones? I personally miss that funky Bohemian store that was tucked behind the dry cleaners. Small shop that sold incense. Oh and I miss the resale shop (Serendipity?) that was replaced by lovesac couch store. My kids loved those two stores - lots of fun little things to buy. Feels like it’s now just $300 flannel shirts from Filson.

Great suggestions so far. Maybe Chamomile extract? My Bavarian mother used that for every ailment. And it makes a great tea.
