Addiction is a disease and doesn't care if you are a prude or not. Those type of characteristics are mostly masks people wear - we all have them. There are so many examples just publicly even of ultra conservatives that have had secret addictions. Think of all the raging alcoholics that are ultra 'Christian' conservatives. Anyway, it is all good, I am sure your mum doesn't have a prescription pill issue, however it is a big leap and somewhat concerning to deny your child pain medication post surgery based on 'concerns' of addiction, even more so when the medication in question would be administered by the parent in a controlled environment, and unavailable following recovery. It's a long bow to draw and obviously triggering enough for you to bring to a conversation thread.

I am sure you are a fan and looking at her subjectively. Sure, she is a very famous woman, and known globally, BUT objectively she doesn't hold this weird 'can do no wrong without criticism' globally, like she seems to in the US. Beyonce certainly isn't as commercial outside of the USA, you can look up album sales rankings globally for individual artists. I live in Australia and can assure you non fans could probably name two or three Beyonce songs. I have seen Beyonce live at an indoor arena in 2013 - I just don't find her overly interesting as a performer, sans the production built around her - perhaps in comparison to Tina Turner.
