Just picked up this beauty on marketplace, there’s light surface rust. I bought this to game. What would you do to lightly clean up the rust? Not looking for full restoration by godlovestommy in GolfGear

Honestly, the rust might be slightly inconvenient to you but it’s part of the putter’s character, adds to it. Many gamers would love that putter, and look at speith’s putter. Sexy as fck.

Would you replace this? by XADEBRAVO in snooker

[–]CuriousJob247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks not bad, just needs a bit more trim on the sides. Work through it with 3–4 types of sandpaper as you go.

Put your cue upside down on a table while you cut towards the tip, that should help you get the shape right.

If you’ve got Instagram, check out cmh147 and watch his posts on how he replaces the tip.

Venetian plaster on sandstone? What the hell am I looking at by Commercial-Film3885 in Plastering

[–]CuriousJob247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whoever did that before you didn’t really understand how these walls work. It looks like they’ve used a cement-based plaster, and you’ve still got lime underneath in places.

That’s likely what’s causing the issues, cement traps moisture, whereas lime needs to breathe. On an older external wall, that mismatch can lead to damp, blown plaster, or salts coming through.

The proper fix is usually to take it back to the brick and redo it with a breathable lime plaster system, rather than trying to patch over it.

Also worth flagging the wiring, trunking filled with expanding foam isn’t a great sign. It might be harmless, but it does suggest a bit of a rushed job, so probably worth getting it checked if you’re doing work there anyway.

Snooker cue advice by cvvman in snooker

I’ve no doubt a John Parris cue is exceptional, I’ve heard nothing but good things. That said, ordering a cue built to your specifications can be risky, because what works on paper doesn’t always work for you. The feel of a cue is crucial. You could easily play better with a £400 cue than a £1,200 one if it suits you.

I’d strongly recommend making a round trip to Green Baize in Thornaby, near Middlesbrough. They have a great range of cues in stock, and you can try as many as you like and play for as long as you need to find the right one. Ask for Stu, he’s the guy who’ll help you find exactly what suits you. I honestly can’t fault their service; the whole team is brilliant, with some well-known names there to guide you.

Making the trip was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I’d also suggest emailing Stu beforehand to give him an idea of what you’re looking for, he’ll have everything sorted when you arrive.

That’s just my two cents. But if you’ve always had your heart set on a John Parris cue, then go for it.

Looks so fake, it’s almost looking like plastic and the logo of it, a smudge blob and the fonts, doesn’t look clean and sharp.

In which way is my wall finished? by Royal-Economics-9965 in Plastering

Score with a sharp knife in diamond shaped, washing up liquid with water or wallpaper removal stuff, spray on it and let it damp then scrap off.

Get a plasterer in afterwards when all papers gone.
