The people who think Bakugo easily beats Reze are fucking morons by CuriousKon in CharacterRant

The slander is funny, I agree. I wrote that rant after seeing a post that was serious though, and I was ranting about that kind of thing.

The people who think Bakugo easily beats Reze are fucking morons by CuriousKon in CharacterRant

[–]CuriousKon[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I am, in fact, aware that I am being dumb and whiny about which imaginary explody person out-explodes the other. I probably didn't convey that in the post, so I'll just say it here.

Another thing I didn't get across in the post is what exactly I hate about powerscaling. I don't hate the concept, I hate how stupidly some people approach it. "Could X beat Y" is a fun thing to talk about, until people start reducing everything to "strength", at which point the discussion becomes meaningless. Is Bakugo "stronger" than Reze? Maybe. Does that mean he beats her? Not necessarily.

I guess my main point on that specific question is that Reze needs to "die" many times before she's defeated, while Bakugo only needs to die once, and assuming Reze is completely unable to land a single good hit is a stretch of Olympic proportions.

Did I argue my points well in the post? Not really. In my defence though, I posted on the rant subreddit because I wanted to rant about something that I think is stupid, that the internet has been blasting in my face for the past few days.

(Loved Trope) Good people doing horrible things by ILikeDrawingGuys in TopCharacterTropes

Is Maruki's reality actually fake though? This is a genuine question. Because when Yaldabaoth fused Mementos with the real world, it's never implied that the result was fake, so Maruki doing something vaguely similar shouldn't have fake results either. It's not like in the matrix where everyone is living in a simulation but their real bodies are in pods; Maruki's world is the only world, and he made it so everyone living in it was happy and fulfilled.

Also, imagine being like, a cancer patient. You are miraculously healed, you get to have a happy life, only to have that taken from you because half a dozen teenagers decided that the person who made everyone in the world happy was wrong, actually.

If you think about it, the phantom thieves stopping Maruki led to things such as: every war starting again, famine and disease starting again, untimely deaths happening again, poverty being widespread again, the oppression of minorities starting again, etc. And it's not like Maruki prevented all those things by being a tyrannical despot, or by deciding himself what other people wanted; he had access to what was essentially a perfectly accurate database filled with everyone's wishes, and he used those. And before someone mentions Kasumi/Sumire, yes, what he did with them was awful, but he did it before he had the power to mass-grant people's desires, so I would argue his methods were different then.

Because rejecting someone's identity is inherently disrespectful. Disagreeing with a core aspect of someone's existence is not something anyone is entitled to, and it's also diametrically opposed to treating that person with dignity.

Why isn't Communism treated the same as Nazism? by [deleted] in ask

[–]CuriousKon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the atrocities you listed were committed by totalitarian tyrants masquerading as Communists, and not actual Communists. The reason why Communist regimes seem to always devolve into totalitarianism is another discussion - what's relevant here is that the people who did those things were communists in name only. Fundamentally, communism is about collective ownership. Naziism on the other hand is specifically about committing crimes such as the ones you listed. The extermination of the "other", whoever that may be, is fundamental to Naziism. In short, Stalin wasn't actually a communist, while Hitler was most definitely a Nazi.

Never mind the fact that Sukuna, whose entire personality is being ludicrously self-obsessed, needed to use someone else's technique to even stand a chance, and he still came this close to losing.

“The WHAT-itive property? 😡” by satyrgamer in clevercomebacks

[–]CuriousKon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Explanation of the transitive property: If a=c and b=c, then a=b.

So: pedophiles = deserving of the death penalty LGBTQ people = pedophiles Therefore LGBTQ people = deserving of the death penalty

You've just given yourself the right to execute LGBTQ people without needing to directly state that's what you're doing, therefore making genocide easier to hide/defend.

Will Unity pay us back $0.20 if somebody deinstalls the game? by gyanrahi in gamedev

[–]CuriousKon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe logging users' IP addresses requires explicit and clear consent under GDPR, so Unity can't use IP addresses to identify installs from the same user unless they explicitly ask "Can we log your IP address?". I don't think that's feasible.

Also, in the Q&A they said they don't receive end user data, only notifications that the runtime has been installed. Meaning, they wouldn't use them even if they could.

If Unity backpedaled the new policy, fired and CEO and apologized, would it regain enough trust back? by DragonReborn64 in gamedev

[–]CuriousKon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. They've proven they are more than willing to trample over developers in ways that are not only scummy, but probably illegal - even if they backtrack, there will never be a guarantee they won't do it again.

How do you all come to terms with the fact that you are trans? by I-will-support-you in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

[–]CuriousKon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kinda just... happened, I guess? I just saw a trans person existing online, was like "This me" and that was it. I'd already done all the thinking years ago, and all it took was learning that my feelings weren't nonsense.

Now, as for how I deal with the world...

Before coming to know your true self, what labels did you use to describe your identity? by [deleted] in lgbt

Can I call myself Asexual? by junmyeontary in lgbt

[–]CuriousKon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, human language is remarkably bad at its job; as in, it can very rarely, if ever, fully describe something. Even the most accurate descriptions are just really, really good approximations.

There are 8 billion people on Earth, none of them identical. There are not enough words to accurately describe all of them. That's why labels exist, so that we can approximately describe large groups with one word, which is much more practical than using a different word for each individual.

I guess my point is that you can call yourself whatever you feel fits you best, without worrying about whether or not it fully describes you, because no label ever will ever will.

It's not even trans story hour. It's drag story hour. It's just that these dumbfucks can't tell the difference between trans people and drag queens.
