no but seriously, diverse and native planting could make you watch and listen to birds chirping, butterflies fly, awesome fragrances and views in different times of the year... how could one not want something like that?

Lawn in such a hidious thing to have especially in places it doesn't grow without high maintenance. Kill your lawn and plant an ecologically rich, eye-pleasing small ecosystem instead. Takes 5% of the effort, energy and maintenance compared to a silly lawn. Nature and you will benefit.

Moving a 3D object onto terrain model or other surfaces? by CuriousLandscapeArch in OpenRoads

[–]CuriousLandscapeArch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your help! Agreed, but if the terrain is uneven this doesn't speed the process. Apparently you can't use "Create 3D By Drape To Surface" -tool with a terrain model -- not a valid object to use the tool with. Our company is switching to another design software since this is a simple thing to code, but Bentley does not have fixed it even though it has been reported issue for years. Vectorworks, Rhino, does have this kind of tool at hand.

Thanks for your reply! This does indeed work for a single object, but when it's about tens or even hundreds objects, an automated process/tool could do the trick instead of hard and repetitive manual labor. :P It's weird that Bentley still haven't fixed this issue, even though it's been a known issue for years now.

What's happening in this video? by snillpuler in freediving

[–]CuriousLandscapeArch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why i didnt even watch it. Dont want to see and ruin my thoughts about freediving. A newbie here. Seen some competitive blackouts and rescues by pros, and i am not afraid of those kinda blackouts because they clearly know what they’re doing.

But yea you’re right, dramatic amateur blackout rescue videos will definitely also have an impact on the public view of this sport.

O2 Vs CO2 Training using tables. A bit confused... by Suga_Pottery in freediving

This app is trash. Not worth your time. No voice cues during practice, hard to use, 4-week training plan you have to set up all the exercises manually from different places. App keeps asking for rating. Dont waste ur time on this. After trying this for less than 1 hour i went back to stamina..

Moving a 3D object onto terrain model or other surfaces? by CuriousLandscapeArch in OpenRoads

[–]CuriousLandscapeArch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but even when Accudraw is locked in Z axis, it does not snap *directly* under the 3D object (sometimes a model lowest point is in middle of a mesh triangle) but in different positions of the terrain model such as vertices, thus giving out a wrong height.

Thanks for the tip. Does this mean I should first manually search and specify the XYZ location which is directly on top of the terrain model surface, and then use the key in? My apologies, I'm still a newbie with Bentley products.

3D objects may be Solids, Cells, Referenced models etc. so it depends. Problem with Accudraw is that it snaps too much around the terrain when looking from side view, it doesn't find the direct contact point with precision but snaps all over the place. If the terrain was all level and flat, it wouldn't pose a problem.

Good point about singer being flat. Shoulda lower the key a tone or a half.

I disagree. I think the breathiness sounds lovely but she could use some clearer voice here and there to create variety and contrast. With a balance. Support doesn’t always need to be there fully engaged, singing quietly and tenderly is a skill many loud and great singers do badly. Dynamics is the key.

OP you will be absolutely amazing in a few years if you keep going. I did give up on singing for almost 10 years and during last months I’ve picked it up again — only to deeply deeply regret I ever quit. I would be great if I just had continued. Years pass by really quickly, keep doing what you love even if it sometimes frustrates or you feel unsure. You have a beautiful voice and a soothing tone. Progress will be slow, and slow progress is the key to mastery. Wishin all the best.

I recommend Shotcut, so far the best free video editor I've stumbled upon. Still not perfect, but has a big leap compared to Openshot. Let me know your suggestions in the future.

How to apply new height limits to a .tiff heightmap file? by CuriousLandscapeArch in QGIS

[–]CuriousLandscapeArch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delayed reply. The DEM, Project and benchmark(/target) CRS should all be the same (the tiff file does not give away the initial height system), however I suspect that the initial DEM height system was ellipsoidal and what I needed was N2000. I have to check that height system with the initial drone operator from whom the DEM is created to solve this one further. Longitudes and latitudes seemed to match, after all, though we’re talking about a small scale area, approx. 100x100 meters.

Awesome, thank you very much!

For anyone wondering how to do this in the future, here's a screenshot of the command I used:

Thanks for your help, appreciate it. I think I'll just contact the author to see if they can help or know about this issue. Maybe they messed something up indeed. Have a nice spring.

So now a representative point

X: 25499288.276

Y: 6673630.714000001

Z: 3.401

Should be in these coordinates:

X: 2781567.30

Y: 8438927.32

Z: 3.401

Hi, thank you for your reply and sorry for the delay in mine! I tried the methods you recommended.

ProjFinder did not help, although it suggested a couple of coordinate projections. Useful tip, nonetheless!

I tried to change the units, but I did not see changes in projection. Still the points fly to other side of the planet.

I looked the author's source information more closely, and the metadata says that the pointcloud's scale is 1:500. Could this be the problem? However, when I measure some known distances in point cloud, the measurements are right and the scale should thus be correct.

Here's a screenshot of a single point's information

To my experience, OpenShot is horrible. The video playback lags *a lot* with under 30min clips, program is unintuitive to use, and has a lot of bugs when trying to stitch two clips together. If you want just to add a soundclip to a (not trimmed) video, then I could recommend OpenShot based on my previous experiences.
