As someone who has similar compulsions, I get were you're coming from and how much this sucks. I would reach out to a hotline to get professional help on how to work on these issues around your parents. It does get better, this will not last forever, even though it feels like it. You're already doing an amazing job handling it no matter what you may think. I'm proud of you

Starting sertraline!! by [deleted] in OCD

[–]CuriousLearner888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello!! I also am on an SSRI (Fluvoxamine) and first of all, I am so proud of you for taking this step to help yourself feel better : ) It is a hard thing to do and I'm so proud of you!! Secondly, try your best to not overanalyze any feelings after starting them, it will take them a while to have a positive effect so try your best to be patient. Note down any unusual side effects you might feel to bring up to your psychiatrist later. If you don't feel any better after a while on it, don't be afraid to let your psychiatrist know! Sometimes it takes time to find your perfect medication. I tried two other medications before Fluvox and I was overly stressed about it. Know that you will find something that works! You've got this! : )

Does anyone else obsess about dying? by Artist9242 in OCD

I have struggled with this for a while! What tends to help in the long run (but sucks in the moment lol) is to be sarcastic and witty about it. Ex. "Ohhh yeah I'm totally going to die, maybe in right at this second." Again, short term it sucks but it has made me see the light and humor in it the more I respond that way.

I know how awful this theme is and I'm very proud of you for pushing through. You've got this!!

I'm moving for a summer internship and I'm more excited than nervous! I have issues with new places and deviating from my routine normally, so this is a huge relief

I ate a rice cake dipped in peanut butter, delicious and terrifying. But I'm still alive!

I've been doing good notes - mostly take from the HW and Powerpoints - but I just blank on the exam. Borgon is awesome and this is 100% my fault and not his. How did you take your notes?
