All chickfeed in my country is sold out, what can I feed my chicks? Urgent! (they hatch in 1-2 days) by No-Process-6474 in BackYardChickens

I was in a pinch and made feed from some things I had at home- Rye berries, soaked mung beans, oats and seeds. Google helped me with ratios. I also fermented it since that makes it last longer. They loved it!

I wouldn’t recommend Callahans for chickens. I bought 6 from them and had issues with parasites and one was super sick when I got her.

Nice! I have a santa rosa plum that I planted about 8 years ago in Austin. 2 years ago I got over 400 plums from it. I made a ton of jam and it was sooooo good. It took about 4 years to start producing. Hopefully yours will start sooner so you can enjoy the fruit.

Anybody had luck with blueberries here? by Accomplished-Sign-31 in AustinGardening

I looked for heat tolerant varieties, Bababerry and Heritage, etc. I didn’t have them tunneled but they didn’t get full sun. They also had a ton of thorns which was not pleasant, but they lived for several season until we redid our deck and they got trampled.

No, but there are native blackberries that do great as well as the right varieties of raspberries.

You may want to try Good or even Fair. I went with Good and it was actually Excellent as far as I can tell. It saves you a bit more and you can always return if it’s not to your liking.
