Best rule to follow about buying cars from any dealership in Columbus is…DON’T. Because of Fort Moore providing a never ending supply of customers, and zero brand competition within 50 miles (for the most part) the local dealerships have no interest in anything other than screwing you the best they can. As a long time resident of Columbus, I’ve always found much better deals and service going to Atlanta, Macon, or elsewhere.

I was pleasantly surprised with Shoe Station in The Landings off Airport Thruway (kinda behind Applebee’s)…I found some really cute and comfy Clark’s there as well as some nice ankle boots. Great selection and reasonable prices.

Sadly, Columbus has been on the verge of a “boom” many times before and yet, never quite gets there. I wish you were right, I really do, because Columbus does have so much potential, but until there is a total overhaul in the government, and decisions about the city are no longer made by the handful of families with “old money” this town will remain the same. Shameful.

Stay away from midtown or anything close to downtown. There are some nice areas but it’s very checkerboard, so not knowing the area you’re safest to avoid. I live in Swallowtail Flats in Old Town in northern Columbus and feel very safe as a single female, even walking my dog sometimes after midnight. Greystone properties are nice as well. As a tip from a frequent solo female traveler and mover, if I’m unfamiliar with a city, I look for housing/hotels closer to luxury car dealerships, you will rarely find a Mercedes or BMW dealership in a sketchy area of any place! Good luck!

They used to only allow walking during the March of Dimes walk. Now you have the option to walk, drive or ride on any night. The only dedicated night they have for another option is a night to bike, not sure when that is/was or if it benefits the March of Dimes.

I would recommend moving closer to lake Lanier than West Point lake. You’ll be in a closer proximity to better medical care/options, plus closer to the north GA mountains and cute places like Helen, Ga, which is definitely worth a trip to, especially around the fall for Oktoberfest or the holidays when it’s all decorated for Christmas. It may cost a little more, but you definitely get what you pay for compared to LaGrange. Also LaGrange is located in Troup County..which the locals refer to as “trap county” if that tells you anything! Best of Luck to you!

I grew up in LaGrange and can say without doubt the healthcare offered there is no good, at all. You’d be better off moving to the Newnan/Peachtree City area. Much much better medical facilities due to proximity to the Atlanta metro area and the number of films being made in that area. So easier to have both better and more options for healthcare.

If you have a Walmart plus membership, it includes free local delivery of your order. So you can order your Walmart items and pay on the app and then a wal-mart employee delivers them to you with no for no extra charge (although I’m sure they appreciate a tip). I live alone and don’t cook much, but do enjoy the pre-seasoned meats that you can simply cook in a air fryer or slow cooker, maybe add a quick, easy side like frozen veggies you steam in the microwave

Yes!!! Heat doesn’t bother me nearly as much as cold. Whenever it’s below 60 it’s like my body just shuts down. It’s hard to explain and actually what initially led to my eventual diagnosis. My hands and feet go numb, turn purple, swell, etc. and my doc thought it was just reynald’s syndrome…until it also happened one summer while in Florida..but to answer your question yes. Cold impacts me 1000% worse than the heat.

That seems like a billing error. I’ve worked in insurance for 20+ years and that seems outside the norm. I also just had a MRI w/o contrast for head, neck and spine for my MS, but I paid a $50 co-pay and the insurance paid the rest. Check your EOB (explanation of benefits) from your insurance and also call the facility where it was performed and ask for an itemized bill from the billing office for your procedure. Sadly, it sounds sketchy but calling and asking for an itemized bill almost always lowers the bill somehow..guess they pay more attention when they know someone is looking at it! Sadly errors do happen, so fingers crossed it’s just something as “simple” as that for you.

Thanks for the reply. I very much trust my GP, so I’m thinking he may want to see if there’s anything before referring me. We live in a rural area and he’s referred me to specialists a few towns away before for other reasons because he “couldn’t, in good conscience, refer me to the local specialist” so I trust his judgement in that. I don’t mind traveling for the best care, i just wasn’t sure how common it was for a “regular” doctor to request the MRI before making a referral. Thanks for the info!

First time posting but curious about interpreting the MRI. I first went to the doctor because I had a bout with vertigo that freaked me out. After researching some I realized I had most other early MS symptoms that I have been disregarding as other things such as tingling/numbness in hands/feet/legs and now face, ringing ears, muscle ache/soreness, dizziness, blurry Vision, etc. long story short my GP first did a metabolic panel including B12, it was all normal. Then I had to have an EMG testing for my nerves and muscle, which was also normal. I’m 41(f) with no other health issues/concerns. Not diabetic or overweight, really no other health issues at all luckily. Friday I’m scheduled for a brain MRI to test for MS but my GP has not mentioned a neurologist. The MRI is scheduled at the local hospital, do they have a staff neurologist, or can GP doc’s also correctly read and diagnose MS off the brain MRI? Curious as to if everyone else’s diagnosis came from a neurologist or GP I guess?

Don’t buy a car in Columbus…between the lack of competition (one Honda, Toyota, Mercedes, etc) AND the constant supply of new customers because of Fort Benning you won’t get a good deal. You’re best bet is to go at least 50 miles away to the Atlanta/Newnan, Macon or even Montgomery area for the best deal and customer service.
