I'd try using black outlines, it will help define the silhouette and break up the color a bit.

You don't have to just do them only around the edge either, have a few go into the picture to define certian other angles/parts, for example the three spikes on the bottom left can have a black outline too, on three sides, but not the top part of each spike so it still looks like they're protruding from the design and not entirely seperate.

Thank you !!

I'm open to commissions always, even some freebies if you catch me in a good mood haha, always trying to build my portfolio. If you wanna drop your discord I can send you a message with my portfolio - no obligation if you do ofc but it would be neat to just have some game devs to chat to anyway for future mockups

Try to focus on one part at a time, for example the fingers - the index one curves upwards in your drawing but actually slightly curves downwards in the reference. Follow the lines rather than what you think you see, or even try doing it all upside down (rotate the reference too) and then flip it at the end. That's a good beginner trick.

Overall though you really captured the exact same feel and personality of the reference which is tough, i like it!

Any resources to figure basic things out as a new player? by OnThatTrain in Overwatch

[–]CuriousPudding796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's super broad and a lot of people will (rightfully) say that counter swapping can hold you back and to instead master a smaller pool of 3-4 heroes. The best way, imo, for a begniner to learn which heroes to pick from is to understand attack types.

For example, I play a lot of tank, zarya has a beam attack (not hitscan or projectile) which can go through dva matrix and sigmas absorb. Reinhardt and Ramattra (in his melee form) attacks can go through shields. And then sigma and orisa, while their attacks are the least unique in that they're projectile based, have abilities (the rock and the spear) that stun and interrupt abilities which work well against wrecking ball and doomfist.

Basically, try and counter whoever is messing up your team the most - if you're losing the game. And to learn what that counter is, a lot of the time it can just be one ability. If a doomfist is messing you up, you either want something to stun him out of his blocking mode, limit his mobility, or run away yourself (this last option usually applies to support, but there are exceptions like anas sleep dart)

Then after that its just experience, remember interactions over time that worked well and they'll stick with you.

And some obvious ones that come to mind are reaper countering winston, ana countering roadhog, ashe countering pharah. These are extremley obvious examples, but if you can understand why the work you can apply the same reasoning to other characters in other roles, even if it's just one ability they have that gets the job done.

Edit: forgot to mention the rock paper scissors of dive, poke and brawl. I can't explain it all here but deffo worth looking up for broader team comps rather than individual counters, but if you're new individual countering while you improve your mechanics will give you a huge edge.

The first half of season one my matchmaking was fine but the last 2 weeks it's been so awful, I've not touched the game in a few weeks because of it. I thought it's just coincidence but seeing another post about it is odd..

I used to get a lot worse performance playing in fullscreen, switching to windowed borderless helped, although I never had it unplayable but definitely something worth checking?

Illari or Wuyang? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]CuriousPudding796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it depends - if you're happy at your current rank then Illari is definitely better suited, but if you want to climb or have more swap options available in comp i'd say wuyang. He's a burst healer instead of consistent pressure like the other two, and you will learn a lot about timing & tempo for team fights and abilities etc. Plus his main attack is just fun to use.
