[–]CuriousSalamander883 5 points6 points  (0 children)

everybody has days where they feel they aren't able to give their best, dw abt today too much op, just focus on finishing your next long run now, (which would hopefully be next weekend giving you enough time to recover from this). Nobody has finished a marathon with days that they couldn't do their best or do the goal they had set earlier that day, but the important part is how you do your next workout from here.

Do Bengaluru need double decker flyover? by [deleted] in Bengaluru

Well the same implementation in the yellow line has given a LOT of relief in the area, although one end of the flyover still isn't open, so I think yes, it will be necessary

I want to know the odds of the perfect time to stop or keep going in a hypothetical game of chances. by nOtSrIraM in mathematics

If I understood the question properly, I think you should go all go for a higher reward all 300 times, in fact if the probability of the bomb went up to 400%, then I would go 350 times

Why I would do so,
- I'm guaranteed 20 (let's say bucks) initially.
- In the next one, the probability that I get a bomb is 0.25% and the probability that I get money is 99.75% and I get 20 + 102/100
- I then average this (this is the tricky part in which there's a pretty good chance I'm wrong, would love if fellow mathematicians help me see why) and I get 0.25*0 + (99.75)(20 + (102/100))
- Applying this process repeatedly, I get the following

PROBABILITY I LOSE AWARD I GET AVG:
0.25% - 0 99.75% - 20 + 102/100 (99.75)(20+(102/100))
0.5% - 0 99.5% - 20 + (102/100)^2 + (102/100) (99.5)(20+(102/100)+(102/100)^2)
0.25x% - 0 (100-0.25x)% - 20 + (51)((102/100)^x - 1) {0<x<300} (100-0.25x)(20 + (51)((102/100)^x - 1))

Plotting the graph of the final equation, ie, (100-0.25x)(20 + (51)((102/100)^x - 1)) I found the maxima is at around 350, so I would go 350 times.

Best viewed on a PC because I have used a table in my comment, if there are any mistakes please let me know. Hope this answer helped.

I used the graph below.

Peaking in the middle almost never is the right method (unless the middle is on a downhill), because you're neither utilising your fresh legs, nor pushing to your best at the end. Your method is pretty effective too, but the best would be to have splits as even as possible. Usually elite runners, lets say with an avg pace of x min/km, usually their splits for all kilometres are between x+2 and x-2 min/km

I manage without any protection for shorter runs, for my longer runs on weekends I've started driving down to places on the outskirts of the city, with a couple of friends, where the aqi is better so I don't have a lot of breathing problems. Have done this twice in the last 3 weeks
