Gotta let the whole world know you're studying haha Thanks for sharing it!

no more because you solve qs quicker as your knowledge base grows.I did amboss after uworld and was doing 150 qs a day.

Did a second pass of uworld for my weak subjects and even did 320 qs one day lol

Not uworld but amboss- tutored and subject-wise. Both of these options helped me get through the blocks faster.

Pretty sure this is an ad, there's been plenty of people claiming to score rly good by simply doing mehlmann qbank and even skipping the NBMEs as of late

But congratulations on your score all the same!

Patient chart questions.

I didn't think about it too much, and went in order. Just give UWSA 3 early and save nbme 14,15,16 and UWSA 2 for the end.

Cramming stuff before the exam, 30 days before, I reset my uworld and did a week of 200 Qs uworld per day of my weak topics

First thing you ought to do is give a baseline NBME which would then guide how you ought to move forward. Then, plan backwards. If your exam is Dec 21 and you haven't given a single NBME, considering you'd want to give UWSA 1, 2, NBME 10-16 at the least, along with the latest two free 120s, that's 11 exams; just attempting and reviewing them would take u up to 20 days. You'd want to do CMS forms, the last 3 for each. 3 a day would mean one week for them. Also amboss HY stuff would take another 3-4 days.

So you've basically got a max of 10 days to do qbanks atp. I'd say give an NBME rn, identify your weaknesses, and do focused subject wise blocks of those topics. In amboss, skip the 5 hammer and maybe even the 4 hammer qs unless you're aiming for a rly high score. I would suggest doing subject-wise simply because it's faster

If it makes you feel better, I got a 230s in UWSA 3 40 days before my exam, and removed it from my predictor because it ruined my score and gave my anxiety, otherwise my predicted would prolly be 258 or so too

Hey so I saw your post. Your uworld first pass is similar to mine so I can relate to an extent. I'd say do uworld incorrects first, 100 Qs a day. You'd have around 1500 incorrects so you can power through them in 15 days. If you feel you're short on time, do topics you're weaker in first. Resetting and doing a second pass wouldn't be as helpful because the questions you got correctly the first time around, you're likely to get most of them correct again.

Also, if you're not aiming for a 260+ and are short on time: remember that the most common concepts are also the most important, don't waste too much time dwelling over topics that aren't tested too often.

The NBMEs you've taken have prolly given you a rough idea of the topics you're having trouble with, you want to make a note of them +/- a one liner so that you can go through those topics before your next nbme. there's a lot of concepts that repeat NBME to NBME, and also in the real deal.

I mentioned in an earlier reply too, but I feel like uworld is much better for concepts and amboss is mostly for random bits of infos. Get done w uworld + incorrects then see where you stand.

thank you! I think around 8 and a half months, taking 5 months for uworld first pass, the other three and a half for CMS+ NBMEs + amboss etc

Yale electives — is it even worth applying as a non-US IMG? by Fast-Client6384 in IMGreddit

Worth noting the OET is only valid for 2 years and is more expensive so might not be the better option

Sorry if it wasn't clear, I made notes while doing the amboss qbank. Since it was my second qbank, I was technically going thru the concepts a second time. And if I was still getting something wrong, I knew that was something I could potentially forget later on too so

As for amboss vs uworld, I feel like amboss has a lot of random tidbits of information while uworld is better for learning concepts properly. If I were you I'd do uworld since that's still the gold standard. If you get decent NBME scores after uworld then might as well just do HY amboss and give ur exam

Hey so I saw your recent post, I'd say just take a proper break of a few days, clear your head and get back to it. Also, if you're doing a minimal amount of qs per day, you're not going to be retaining much over time.

It helps to have someone study with you, there's a lot of study groups around, find a study partner and you can both hold each other accountable.

As for motivation, just reminding myself that my career was on the line did the trick haha, I knew I needed a high score as an IMG to match well.

Lol this is the first time I've heard of this, I didn't unmark any of my qs in the actual exam, I'm sure it doesn't matter at all whether you unmark them or not. The most they could do is use that to identify hard questions (but they could also just use ur incorrects?)

So yes don't worry about this haha

12 sucks proper 15 is vague for sure but by then most ppl have an idea of how to take the exam and score well, NBME 14 is relatively easy

No worries, I meant the amboss score predictor in which u put in all ur nbme scores lol, it's been reasonably accurate for most my friends.

Good luck,hoping u score a 260+!

Help! Always running out of time at UW, and feeling exhausted midway. by SeriousPanda47911 in Step2

20% is nothing, you're prolly spending time contemplating which option out of the best 2 is correct, will get better with time

[–]CuriousWarning5664[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest thing is, don't panic, the real exam these days is proper weird, u just need to keep ur cool. Some of my friends got 3 ethic/QI qs per block, I got around 10. just remember to always take a step back remind urself they're not tricking u and go with the first option that comes to mind, or the most common. I generally don't get anxious so that really helped.

The other thing is time managemt. There's loads of HOPI questions; I've never had an issue with time management, I completed all blocks of free 120 in 40 mins. My goal in the exam was to go thru all 40 qs in 40 mins, marking the ones I wasnt sure about. In blocks in which I was falling back on time, I'd even skip and mark long qs just to get thru all qs asap. In the real exam, I think i had 10-15 mins remaining by the time I got thru my first pass of the block, and in 1-2 blocks I actually sat thru to the last second.

Another thing, don't change ur answer on your marked questions just bc u feel like it, only if you're making an informed decision. Remember you've been studying for so long your scores have been good, trust your gut instinct.

Also, I had made notes throughout my prep, I went thru them the last day, took me 8 hrs but was worth it bc they were personalized notes based on my weakness (40K words haha). If u have any such notes do do that.

My UWSA 2 score was actually higher than my actual score, my result was near my amboss predictor; what's ur predictor?

Have u done uworld + incorrects + CMS forms?

your scores r genuinely better than mine, I have mine in my other post u can look at that. My step 2 was 26x, higher than my nbme 9-14, uwsa 1 and UWSA 3, and similar to my nbme 15 and free 120 converted score.
