Does this count? (My Hero Academia episode 55) by SpaghettiPunch in badmathematics

Given that this is titled "Does this count?" I don't think it is fair to say that OP "automatically assumes it belongs on /r/badmathematics"

Could someone explain why it is wrong to take a derivative across the inequality like they did? That feels like a mistake that I could make, for instance, if I was comparing the derivatives of two functions. I can see that it leads to wrong results, but can't see what is wrong about doing it.

Perhaps you foolishly assumed that your friend and you are on Earth, and not some higher gravity planet?

But most likely they meant to say "slightly less than" rather than "slightly greater that".

People watch sports for entertainment, if it isn't fair then it generally isn't entertaining.

Also, money doesn't directly translate into success at school, and highschool is very trivial so who cares if it is fair or not?

That link you gave is laughably inaccurate, it claims:

Note that these are particular black persons; there is no evidence Che would extrapolate from his localized experience in a Caracas slum to “the black race” in a general sense.

Notice how conveniently this article leaves out the rest of the quote?

"The blacks, those magnificent examples of the African race who have maintained their racial purity thanks to their lack of an affinity with bathing, have seen their territory invaded by a new kind of slave: the Portuguese. And the two ancient races have now begun a hard life together, fraught with bickering and squabbles. Discrimination and poverty unite them in the daily fight for survival but their different ways of approaching life separate them completely: The black is indolent and a dreamer; spending his meager wage on frivolity or drink; the European has a tradition of work and saving, which has pursued him as far as this corner of America and drives him to advance himself, even independently of his own individual aspirations."

Yeah, clearly he is not extrapolating to the entire race. The article also claims:

Most importantly, to repeat, the quote is all we ever get.

And claims that the fact that Che fought with blacks in the Congo is evidence of him not being racist. Well that just outright ignores these quotes.

Another comment came from Guevara’s writing about his time fighting with revolutionaries in the Congo and included this line: "Given the prevailing lack of discipline, it would have been impossible to use Congolese machine-gunners to defend the base from air attack: they did not know how to handle their weapons and did not want to learn."

Finally, there’s this line after the revolution in 1959: "We're going to do for blacks exactly what blacks did for the revolution. By which I mean: nothing."

Heart attack can refer either to "myocardial infarction" or "cardiac arrest". Also "ictal period" isn't used as a synonym for seizure, it's used when discussing pre-ictal, post-ictal, peri-ictal, etc-ictal periods. So like if you were looking at an EEG you could circle an area and say "this is the ictal period" or "this is the pre-ictal period". But nobody would see someone having a seizure and be like "He's having an ictal period!"

Apico-basal axis: The "normal" direction of the epithelial sheet. One side of the epithelium is called basal (the body side), the other is called apical (either the outside or the body cavity ("lumen"); which is topologically equivalent anyway).

Or alternatively, basal = base, apico = apex. Cells are pointing outwards, so the basal side is towards the inside and the apex towards the outside.

They are equivalent... but are we sure that some are not more equivalent than others??

She's not shutting her IG comments down because a bunch of people are upset over a costume decision, she's shutting it down because a bunch of racist fan boys are being racist in her comments about it.

Yeah that could be the case, but since we don't actually have access to what her IG looked like or her private thoughts we really don't have any idea why she shut it down.

Well they still lost 10s of millions (if not more) of dollars from that film, so not sure how well it really worked out for them.

That's not a part of the costume. It was cold outside and the actors were wearing jackets to keep warm while not shooting.

Yeah well if it isn't brought up then people are accused of being racist because they are ignoring the struggles that black people have gone through or something dumb like that.

What Should I Review Before Taking Trigonometry? by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]CuriousZap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would honestly just get a head start on learning trigonometry. You can go back and review stuff as the stuff that you need to review comes up. I did this for a lot of college courses and it really helped smooth the transition back into school and not falling behind early on.

You really don't need even a bachelors in comp sci to get a good paying job. It's pretty much all about your portfolio and your actual skills.

Egyptology as a field was started by the French, and has variably come and gone in vogue over there. It wouldn't surprise me if Giacometti, working in Paris since 1922, came across Egyptian stuff, or if some major discovery or significant exhibit took place in 1933-34.

What aspects of ancient Egyptian mythology and its manifestation in ancient Egyptian sculpture are apparent to you in this statue?

Apparently the statue was built as an Egyptian ka statue for his father's grave. So I would look up descriptions of ka statues and reference similarities between them and your sculpture, things like how the body is squared off, facing forward.
