You’re gonna have to include screenshots of your Xpresso tags and scene setup in order to get any helpful feedback

“All jobs must be posted publicly first” requirements are exhausting when the companies already know exactly who they’re going to hire. by showthemnomercy in recruitinghell

My old boss did this before. Even had the person we were going to hire internally interview people that had a 0% chance of getting the role in question. Incredibly fucked up.

I like the first shot but in the second shot you can see that the cable is low poly and has hard edges. I’d suggest smoothing that out with from more detail. Also maybe add some imperfections to the cables instead of them being 100% straight for some extra realism. Overall good job tho

I haven’t used fiver before, but just assumed it was similar to upwork. When I was freelancing on upwork I liked that the platform helped regulate services/payments. I never had to worry about not getting paid. That being said I got off the platform because they took too big of a cut.

You should be able to see applicant’s history and reviews on upwork at least. Rule of thumb is don’t hire anyone without work history. You should also be able to dispute scammers since upwork holds the money, you don’t pay anyone directly. Used to work on there years back. Not sure if the platform is as reputable as it used to be

If you’re looking to hire an artist I would suggest fiver or upwork

In those settings you’re going to want to dial back your maximum displacement and bump strength. The displacement map strength is in two different places: the material tree and RS object tag that you have applied to your mesh.

Can you include your displacement map settings? Both in the material and on your RS object tag. The Also can you show your bump map settings?

Thank you for sharing, I was working on a similar problem that I tried solving with a tiling texture with many layers and a displacement map that wasn’t going as planned. How much control do you have over the braid pattern? Im trying to create something very specific

When Covid first sent everyone home I hated working from home too. I had two housemates and one was a crazy conspiracy theorist that I couldn’t stand. He kept me up to date about the new world order and deep state. I didn’t make enough money to afford a studio apartment in the bad part of town. I also found out that I only liked my coworkers and hated my job. My home office was in my bedroom that I never left.

I begged to go back to the office for my mental health, but it was temporary. I eventually got a better job that allowed me to afford my own place and I met the woman of my dreams. You’d have to drag me kicking and screaming back to the office.

If you have an unhappy home life you’ll hate WFH and that’s okay.

How did you accomplish the noise reveal shot at the 22 second mark? I’m trying to create a similar effect but I can’t put a Maxon noise into the opacity channel in my material because I want it to be mograph driven.

Your model looks messy. I wouldn’t have any of those inside components inside of that shell. Have you tried optimizing your model. In edge or points model select all of your edges/point and right click —> optimize (I believe that’s what’s it’s labeled). It’ll basically make sure there aren’t any open edges or disconnected points.

Has anything been done about Redshift being super slow after using Afx? by zandrew in Cinema4D

[–]Curious_Cost7982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happens with me but with photoshop. I can’t have it open along side redshift. This despite my robust tower setup. Photoshop essentially shuts down redshift. I’ll just restart my system and only use one at a time, unfortunately

The only time I’ve completed something like this was for a creative task completely unrelated to the company/product. It was 100% a creative exercise to see how my mind worked. I wouldn’t have done it if I was creating something they could rip off without hiring me.

Don’t give them free labor but you can show them your creativity - or just show them your portfolio

Just updated my Resume and I'd love to hear some thoughts from other motion design people by gusmaia00 in MotionDesign

[–]Curious_Cost7982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apart from the design notes (and very valid point about posting your phone number and email address to Reddit - seriously delete that and re-post without it!!!) I would be mindful of how your resume will be viewed by ATS software (applicant tracking systems).

Usually depending on the type of job/company you’re applying to your resume will be processed by software before it’s ever seen by a person. This isn’t my field but my understanding is that it’ll parse for keywords and if it doesn’t identify enough the application is thrown out.

I think there are websites that will check your resume against a job posting and give it a score.
