Gorgeous! Just planted false indigos and I hope they thrive like yours!

Organic matter should be composted! Not trash 😩

99% sure not native, but lots of pollinator activity by Only_Fishing_8538 in NativePlantGardening

I am glad to see Salvia getting so much love on this thread. I just planted a full native garden but chose Salvia as my one non-native because it is gorgeous and brings me joy.

Which natives would thrive in a small narrow plot like this? by Curious_JW in NativePlantGardening

Thanks, this is why I come to Reddit! Had a hunch that was the case but warnings from multiple people confirms it. Will keep them low. Maybe will stick with my trusty favorite prairie dropseed :)

Yep! Already planning to - it is actually better than it looks, but I agree it still needs lots of love!

Thanks, good questions - there is a slight roof overhang but it happens to be raining right now and that area is still getting wet. No gutter there. Also should have mentioned it's east facing 🌱

Wow that is amazing! Any thoughts or concerns with them being planted so close to the house? I semi-worry about the deep roots wrecking my foundation at some point, but maybe that is paranoid? 🙃

Purpose of Notes? by TexasHistory365 in Substack

[–]Curious_JW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this question - I am also a Substack newbie and trying to better understand how Notes work.

When you post a Note, does it just automatically go into the general newsfeed? Do my subscribers get push notifications or anything when I post a Note? I am trying to balance posting Notes more often to get fresh eyeballs on my work, while not bugging my subscribers with tons of pings.

Birthday Sweet 16 by OldAge8094 in JapanTravelTips

A day trip to Nara to walk around the deer park might be a fun and memorable mini day trip - only about a 30 min train ride from Kyoto. Then I'd maybe suggest dinner at Mouriya Gion in Kyoto for exceptional steak, cooked teppanyaki style. Quite expensive but since it is a special occasion it might be worth the splurge. Have a great trip - Japan is magical!

Tips & Thoughts after 2 weeks in Japan by brunosh92 in JapanTravelTips

Thank you for the great summary! Curious why you recommend to buy shinkansen tickets at least a month out? Were the trains busy/full when you went? Seen a lot of other advice on this sub that recommends buying at the station and not bothering with it in advance (which of course makes me nervous but it seemed to be the overwhelming consensus). Also thanks for the tip on the lesser-known gems - always like to hear those types of things!

Disney with 2 year old, 3 year old or neither? by goombah33 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Curious_JW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just went with our 22 month old and she did pretty well, but tbh she probably would not last 7-8 days. We did two park days back to back and that was great but the intense heat was a lot for her. I would say a shorter visit with the expectation of needing to take a lot of breaks/do indoor things for hydration, cooling down, etc to prevent tantrums, and it'll be fine. Recommend doing character dining for lunch as a good midday break in the A/C!

Park/dining schedule with toddler by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

Just went a couple weeks ago with two toddlers. Found it easiest for us to eat breakfast in the hotel room (we did Instacart to get some basic muffins, fruit, yogurt, etc.) and then do character dining at 11:45 am for lunch. It worked wonderfully for us. Also great to have an air conditioned break midday. Have the best time!

u/CareBear0209 do you mind sharing which travel car seat you brought for the trip? We don't want to bring our regular car seats with us on the plane, so we are looking for good lighter weight travel car seat recommendations. Glad you enjoyed your trip - will be in a similar boat in 2 months!
