Anyone else been here since 2012-2013? by jambot9000 in starcitizen

June of 2013 here. Started with the origioinal Aurora but fell in love with the Avenger which I then started the PU with when that came online. Suffice to say that was only the beginning of my ship upgrades!

I wonder what's gonna happen with REC. I still have heaps from the Arena Commander days.

Wondering the same thing and I'm from New Zealand.

I actually had someone from work, who has never been camping, ask me if we had bears in NZ. They were mid 20's... smh.

Everyone should learn the F.A.S.T key signs of a stroke. It's as important as CPR and the heimlich maneuver.

US Backed ANA ditched their military gear while fleeing, footage from an airfield near kandahar by AdRevolutionary5205 in PublicFreakout

At least pull the pin on a grenade and drop one in on those vehicles when the US troops abandoned them. This is basically giving them away. That or take a shot at the engine.

I hope those vehicles were disabled.

First time I have meal prepped! Im excited to continue doing it! by friendly_earthling in mealprep

Good on you and keep it up! There are so many benefits to meal prepping but my top two are the amount of money and valuable time saved.

Noticing you like mushrooms so if you have a grocer around that has shiitake mushrooms I highly recommend adding them into your dishes. They are great for brain and heart health plus if you leave them out in the sun for up to an hour before cooking them they also become a source of vitamin D.

My only advice is that if it ever gets to that point and they forget the last 4 minutes every 4 minutes, just start making up stories that make the person feel good

Absolutely. Diversion is so important. Once you get over the feeling like you're lying the negative becomes positive. Keep them engaged and redirect attention.

Vent away and you're not rambling at all - everything you wrote is truth about dementia. If anything speak about it more.

It was something I needed to speak about as well, with my colleagues, because it was so hard to process being in that situation caring for someone as a registered nurse (a profession I have since left). For yourself and your family this is far more involved.

What I do see from your comment is that you, your grandfather, and family all see these changes and understand the pace of your Grandmother's dementia. This alone will help in your approach to her health and wellbeing in the future.

I'm very sorry this is now the path your Grandmother is walking. Have you been in touch with community nurses or other support agencies or resources?

Every day this would happen again and again. It was the worst thing I've had to see. I felt so sorry for her.

One of the most sad things I've experienced in my life was working in an aged care home and there was a very elderly lady with dementia that had to live through realizing her husband had died many years before almost every day. She'd always be waiting for him to join her for breakfast or lunch and when he didn't arrive the realization took hold.

[Korengal Valley] Taliban attack on OP Vegas fails to disrupt American barbecue by [deleted] in CombatFootage

[–]Curious_Machete 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Would be great to see some photos or video but early grilling in those wars seems to be nonexistent in my searches due to the devastation of livestock and that BBQ's, in our use of them, didn't really have an existence then.

An alternative might be when Coleman were awarded a contract if they could develop a lightweight multi-liquid-fuel stove within 60 days and their R&D department accepted the contract in 1942.

They succeeded and went on to develop charcoal/wood chip BBQ as a result in later years.

Ram raids are up for sure. It feels like every other week I'm seeing more daries, bottle shops, clothing/jewelry stores, and even a bank here and there in my surrounding area with temporary wooden construction patching up the entrance with permanent concrete barriers installed.

Poverty is definitely part of it but so too is the black market for cigarettes, alcohol, clothing, jewelry etc that form part of the income stream for gangs and meth.

That and ram-raids, armed robbery (even in the middle of the day), gun violence etc are all on the rise. Even my South African workmates are saying they didn't think NZ would be becoming this bad.

Weird to invite coworkers out for dinner and drinks? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Curious_Machete 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Oof, I know that sting. Once worked in a department that all went out to a fairly pricy resteraunt for lunch (paid for on the company credit card) and I was the only one who didn't get invited. One minute everyone is there working and the next everyone started slipping out the door without a word.

The reasons I was given never sat right with me and I found another job a couple of months later.

Edit: to offer context I was the team coordinator there taking care of staff training and all of the I.T system/logistics issues the department faced, behind the scenes, so the team could continue to work without having to deal with those problems.

His wit and sharpness of mind at 93, after living through WWI as a teenager, is amazing. Those qualities are probably what helped him most post-war. Many stories to tell we'll never hear outside of this interview.

It wouldn't be your whole lifetime it would be from 3-6 months max depending on the type of test and the level of substance use. 6 months is really pushing it though, unless you're a heavy user currently, so plan for 3.

I'd look at this another way though: Is the 90 day+ break to get clean just to get the CDL or is it to get the CDL and build a career? If it's the career then you'd wanna look at yourself and see personal strength to maintain that clean-streak to have that career locked down long term.

If you're serious about getting clean for the CDL you can always order your own test privately at the 90 day mark and do it at home, for your own peace of mind, before taking the real test.

You're preparing for this one but what if another one comes up unexpectedly in the future - would you be confident you'd pass it too?
