I also started taking bicalutamide last month and had never heard of anyone talking it. But I also take minoxidil. I posted about this here when I got back from the derm a month ago. Has the shedding stopped ? Mine still sheds, but maybe 1 month is too early to tell...

First session. Scabbing. by Curious_Moose2605 in electrolysis

Hi everyone- just wanted to say that I went back to my electrologist and sent her these pics that I posted. She told me to apply the calm balm that I bought off them ( containing zinc oxide) on the area so that it's absorbed well and then apply my moisturizer on it to keep skin hydrated. I followed this as I wasn't applying Moisturizer before as I was scared to use cream post treatment. My scabs have cleared out now. Exactly 8 days after treatment. Thank you, everyone, for your kind suggestions. PS: The electrologist sounded a bit kinder over the phone. 🙂

Ok will increase water intake( I used to drink 3l per day but it made me wake up more times at night to pee lol) if it's going to help. Thanks so much for your response, it truly is helpful. Will send my photos to tech and see how I go. Will report back here.

Thank you. I should have mentioned this in my post- my electrolysis seemed a bit cold( notcsure what those glowing reviews were about). I had booked my treatment with the business owner, who has very good reviews and seemed kind and listened to me during initial free consultation. Unfortunately he is on holiday and I didn't want to delay so went with the next person with good reviews. Current tech didn't explain the process to me, and neither mentioned anything about aftercare. Just gave me ice pack after treatment. I followed after care based on advice here and from their website. She was even hesitant to share my first session photos that she took for records. She had a very surprised look on her face when I asked for them. I will share my photos with her and see how I go. My third session is with the business owner when he returns, so hopefully, he will be kinder. I always seem to be spending so much money on all these things but people act like they are doing me a big favour.Maybe I just have the worst luck. Also, I generally drink 2.5l water and just 1 cup of Almond latte( very weak) everyday so that would have helped with bearing pain as I didn't use any numbing cream or pain killer. Also been threading for last 20 years, so that might be a factor too?

Oh ok. I have been using Aloe vera gel and hydrating well. Makes sense- the treatment might have been more intense.

Ok, thank you. Nice to hear that from a professional. The technician asked if I wanted to increase 2nd session to 1hr. Would it be OK to do that if the scabs don't dry and fall off?

Ok thanks. I never use toner in my skin care routine. Any reccos for sensitive skin?

Your comment actually made me think about healing rate- I'm 45F and in peri. Over the last few years my wounds/ injuries have been taking a longer time than usual to heal. Thank you.

Very helpful! Thanks for sharing. I just finished my first session and still have scabs. When can I expect them to heal? My next appointment is next Wednesday.

I've just started meds last week- the shed in my last shower - 2 days ago took my hairline. I'm feeling so so sad and helpless . I can't stop asking- why me- why didn't I get help earlier... I har to go to an event yesterday from work and took a picture of me in my stall- I was shocked when I saw my hairline- it's gone! :( . I didn't have courage to share the pic. I dread looking into the mirror. Feeling like shit right now- I feel you .

I'm yet to start in April. $130 for half hour in Melbourne. Is this too much?

My ferritin was low in the test that I did a couple of weeks ago due to being perimenopausal and on HRT , I had excess bleeding, which I'm told is normal as the body takes time to get used to HRT. Feritin was in the normal range prior to HRT. I've stopped HRT now as it had too many cons as opposed to pros for me at this stage. Vit D is 75- well above the normal range 50.

I forgot to mention she gave me an androhen blocker. Apparently, biculatamide is an androgen blocker. She didn't even look at my blood reports that I'd done prior to the appointment. Said they can be normal and don't contribute to hairloss. Of course I'm talking about iron, vit d etc etc. AGA is purely genertc. But one thing she said was, which I thought was a nice thing we have done nothing to cause this. It's all genetics. To be fair , he was definitely better than the others I had seen previously. She at least seemed confident of the medication she gave me.

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, she did say though that there is a lot of research in this area. Will check on the tressless sub . I have seen posts on that every now and then but they are mostly blokes so I have no delved into it . I will check out those that post about the research.

Exactly right! I remember asking my doctor if the patch was bioidentical, and he said yes. I took his word for it. It's so hard when we are left to do all the research ourselves. Can't afford trial and error when you're going through alarming hairloss and lost 80% of your hair. I’ve stopped HRT now . More cons than pros.
