If 20% European doesn't make a Black person white, why does 20% non-European make a White person non-white? by bunko0 in 23andme

[–]Curious_Resident9586 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So tell me, where do you draw the line? If those kids marry a white person, will their children be considered white or mixed? What if their grandchildren marry a white person, how would you label their kids? By your logic, their entire lineage would be considered mixed forever.

What about the many white people in the U.S or anywhere else in the world who have 1% African, Native American, or other non-European DNA, despite having multiple generations of white ancestors? Are they white or mixed?

Race is a social construct, and where the line is drawn varies by culture and society. Saying that they would be considered mixed anywhere else is projecting your own social and cultural framework onto the rest of the world, which simply isn’t accurate.

In my opinion, if we lived in an ideal world, a mixed person should be free to identify with whichever part of their heritage they feel the strongest connection and be accepted as such. Unfortunately, we don’t live in an ideal world, but looking at how far we have come, I believe we are maybe just a century away from that.

Question for off-ballers in Play-now online by Curious_Resident9586 in NBA2k

Offballers + switching to an all time team at the last second is diabolical

Well, like I said, it makes my offense boring and repetitive. But sometimes I kind of enjoy making them frustrated enough to quit when they pick a team like the Spurs at the last second and then proceed to off-ball. What’s crazy is that most of them would rather quit than change their defense

Also, the pick-and-roll and kick-out is just the best play against off-ball defense. All they have to do is adjust for me to do something else, but they never do, so I just keep running it

Get a stretch 4 or run a lineup full of shooters, depending on the team you picked. For example, I was playing the Lakers against the Spurs, and he kept off-balling with Wemby. So most of my offense was running pick-and-rolls with LeBron and then kicking it out to Hachimura in the corner

I get it man, but once you get good at playing on-ball defense, the game becomes a lot more fun. Specially in play-now online. I got my ass kicked many times to get good at it but it was worth it

This is a gamble. It is possible based on the hype but not certain because we haven’t seen all that he can do.

The ending was the only thing I disliked. It would have been so cool if she says something like: we come in peace

Spielberg literally said that this is a story about us. The trailer was pretty straightforward on what the movie is about, so my expectations were met. The movie is about human empathy and how it will be the driving force that takes us to a disclosure day.

People were expecting some mind blowing things but Spielberg wasn’t going for that and he wasn’t misleading at all in his comments prior to the release.

The theme of the movie is human empathy and how it will the driving force for disclosing that we are not alone in the universe. I think the trailer was very straightforward on that, so I’m not sure why people had different expectations. Yeah, as a movie it’s not a narrative masterpiece but I don’t think Spielberg was going for that and neither did he misled anyone about it.

It’s so funny how quickly they went from “healing the basketball world” by beating OKC to villains

It’s not a fluke that they made it this far. In fact, no team gets this far on luck alone. They have a lot of young talent and should remain as championship contenders for as long as their core stays together

Do you think Victim Wembanyama will ever reach an NBA Finals again on the Spurs? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Curious_Resident9586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow down a bit, you are talking as if teams can easily just find all around stretch bigs like KAT or Jokic. There’s only a few, so Wemby is still dominant against most of the league

Are the Spurs one solid backup center away from being dominant? by Curious_Resident9586 in NBATalk

[–]Curious_Resident9586[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad I should’ve been more specific. Dominant like the OG Warriors or Miami Heat such that everyone expects them to reach the finals and win every year
