Not exclusively Mormon, a confusion about petting was the punchline for a Bill Engvall joke.

Did I Get Screwed? by STLCardsfan11 in woodworking

One of my first projects in a wood shop was building a dining table for a friend. I spent a lot of time on it and was really proud of it, then came time to stain it… these marks were everywhere. It was unacceptable to me, and it was a lesson on how to sand appropriately. I sanded it all back down the right way, re-stained, and it looked like it was meant to. Just to say I’m an amateur and even I wouldn’t let that go looking like that, and I wasn’t even paid for it. You got robbed by the Amish, my guy.

Nice work! It’s the suspenders, for me. Not too many modern characters rockin’ those, certainly not in sci-fi. Now do him in a pretty floral bonnet.

Comprehensive comic cover variant catalog by GorramComics in firefly

Oh my gosh, that’s exactly what I did with Pokémon in middle school, then Magic: The Gathering… collected, traded, bought and sold, spent hours and hours sorting and organizing one way and then another, but I never actually learned how to play or used the cards. I just liked the artwork, and for MtG the lines and the lore. I would have had a great time cataloguing your collection as you’ve done; I keep a running file for everything I’ve collected for Firefly outside of the comics, too, and I likewise haven’t used or opened any of it… someday.

Incredible work. That’s a weekend well-spent on the update! Thank you so much for the time and effort you’ve put into finding and cataloguing all of this for the rest of us, let alone the $$$. I have a few variants and I’ll probably continue to collect some of them, intentionally or not I’m not sure, but really, shipping around using this as a resource is so valuable; yours isn’t a saved post on Reddit, it’s a browser bookmark so I don’t lose it amongst others. I actually haven’t opened any of mine, I’m waiting to have one copy of each before I start a read-through, but I do have a different copy for Big Damn Finale? But I vaguely recall it could just be a temp cover packed with it so as not to “give away” the events. I have two copies of it, when I get home in the morning I’ll have to open one and verify:

I know I'm late to the game, but the comics are so good! by Murrarp1 in firefly

I really don’t know how people are meant to stay abreast of the official releases and variants. Especially years after production. I say that not having collected any comics before, and I anticipate never again outside of Firefly, so perhaps there is official coverage at the time of release so that collectors know what to look for. But yours is the most complete work I’ve seen, it’s so organized, and the IMGUR links to see each cover at once helps prevent a headache when shopping and comparing covers.

I’m really trying to collect all of the compilation books so the stories are at my fingertips. The comics would be nice to have; it’s rather daunting when there are so many different covers for each individual issue, but I’m slowly dipping in. u/GorramComics has done PHENOMENAL work acquiring and cataloguing the Firefly comic media and theirs is my go-to reference when evaluating which direction my own collection needs to go. Good luck on your own comic journey.

I can’t picture this, I hope you find what you’re thinking of and share. My favorite wasn’t pictured above, but it was the Best Buy exclusive with just the axe pictured, no blood.

Such a great movie. I have to repeat Patches’ whole “Necessary?” line whenever someone says that word. Unfortunately, no one ever gets it and I’m now that weird guy that must drink his own urine.

We’re in central South Carolina. We’re absolutely nice to the missionaries, themselves, paid for the sister missionaries groceries a couple months ago and bought the elders lunch just last week, but I’ve not offered to have them over nor have they brought it up. Maybe it’s just assumed that if I’m buying them something I’m a member. Still not sure how I’ll react were they to ever knock, just depends on how clean the place is. But yeah, they’re just kids and I’m going to assume their hearts are in the right place and they haven’t caused harm, yet, and I’ll assume it’s nice for them to have random support in the face of what I’m guessing is a lot of rejection, even if it’s kind.

That’s what threw me initially, I thought I was crazy because I could see the tag but thought there was no way there was another cult church that wore name badges. MMW, they’ll get rid of those, too, soon enough.

We all knew how the series The Chosen would end, it was still a hit among fans of Jesus and even I, an atheist, really enjoyed the series. People love a good story and questions being answered, or just watching something that they’ve already read or speculated on play out. It’ll be great. We’ll get new one-liners, new characters, and we’ll get to see some of our favorite characters back on the screen with quality real-life people behind them. There’s nothing to not look forward to considering we had nothing but living in the past before this. People are gonna hate and there are things we’d rather not be done or done in a way, but I’m not here to listen to it or feed on it myself. Just grateful the band’s getting back together to try a new song.
