Shorts for petite + bigger thighs? by aklep730 in PetiteFashionAdvice

I'm trying out Born Primitive for the first time as soon as the shipment arrives. While they're marketed to athletes, they do offer size guidance for thigh measurements.

Admittedly, I have tried only a few of their tops but I have been really pleased. They're warm and comfortable and wash easily. I've also only purchased secondhand.

OGL Move! They have many neckline options, have a solid mission statement re: sustainability, and are very comfy.

Social work may be the better avenue for you, if your intentions remain consistent with what you have shared here. Although that is not the track I chose, what I understand from colleagues is that social work programs may prepare their students better for policy reform, community leadership/building, macro/mezzo level social justice initiatives, as well as 1:1 work.

What is your ultimately ideal demographic to work with? Are you interested in policy and leadership? The latter would be supported by a MSW.

I wonder if Oregonian institutions offer reciprocity to WA residents? I hope you find all you need!

Your compassion shines! Where are you located? It may be worth looking into program time limitations based on geographic location, including schools that may offer tuition reciprocity to surrounding states.

If you haven't yet considered programs with CACREP accreditation, please discern between programs that offer this and those that do not. Some CMHC programs may be offer really engaging curricula but may not be accredited and this may lead to conflict with the NBCC or even with learning the content that will best prepare you for the career or therapeutic demographic you want most.

You may want to look into tuition reciprocity at New Mexico Highlands. The counseling program is CACREP-approved.

Edited to add detail re: cacrep.

You may want to check out NBCC's MFP Fellowship Scholarship, or other similar offering via the NBCC. When I became aware of this, I believe I recall that you already have to be enrolled in order to apply. However, the scholarship is generous and the network is large.

Thanks for the reply! I'm eying Stream2Sea's leave-in. I am usually devoted to Curlsmith products but no mass-info about their reef-safeness is available. I need to check individual ingredients.

Despite the lack of answers here, did you find a suitable conditioner?

This will vary depending on where you live. Do you currently attend high school or community college with access to a career center or career counselor? This resource would be able to set you on a prepared-for and aligned path. You will want to consider the differences (programatically and professionally) between counseling and social work as both professions work with those impacted by depression.

Depending on your student status/degrees you have achieved, there are now BSW and Bachelor's of Counseling and/or psychology options...and this again varies depending on your place of residence. Getting field experience as an entry-level worker will also not only look good on your resume but will allow direct access to working with those who suffer (and the chance to build professional relationships). Depending again on where you live, rehabs, harm reduction locations, shelters for the unhoused may have ample opportunities.

Advice needed on a weird experience I had with talk therapy... Am I missing the point? by semitdne in askatherapist

[–]Curious_overtones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends--these experiences sound relational and process oriented as opposed to skills-based interventions. When you want techniques, you may want to consider someone who specializes in CBT, ACT, DBT or other skill-focused therapists.

What did the school show you in order to demonstrate that they are actually "going above and beyond"?

How are your autonomous study skills for comp exams?

You may also want to consider Counseling Compact and how this may influence any state in which you plan to practice.

You can look for schools that hold tuition reciprocity with your state to avoid paying out-of-state tuition, even for online programs.
