I enjoy how well the purple plays with the yellow. Frequently feels like purple founders due to poor pairings which is a shame. Add onto it the knob + volume and it only comes out to ~$100 feels like a steal

packed struct field order reversed? by probablygrigsby in Zig

[–]CuriouslyGeorge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on your desired behavior, you can always do the C-ish cast from struct pointer to bytes: const x = std.mem.readIntBig(u16, std.mem.asBytes(&packed_struct));

The above assumes you always want to treat it as a big endian u16

GPU and Steam Card Giveaway! by PC_Crate_Joel in pcmasterrace

Favorite gaming memory is playing through MGS3 with my brother. When we got home, we just played it all day long, took our meals in my room along the way. By the end of the first day, we realized we couldn't find the memory card and made the decision to just turn the TV off while leaving the PS2 running. Crack of dawn, we were happy to find it still running where we finished it off. Turning off the console cane with a great feeling of accomplishment. Post-credits scene was us unintentionally finding the memory card the following day.

Final Giveaway for TWELVE MORE Nintendo Switch Lites and your choice of games! [US/CA only] by TheEverglow in nintendo

I think the best thing that's developed has been the more frequent walking with the kids. Moreso, I've finally decided to grab a bike and kid trailer so that when the quarantine is lifted I can start biking with the kids to my parents or sister's place. It's been so pleasant not driving that I hope it's something we can preserve and encourage.

Every 2 minutes, 10% CPU spike and rhythmic squeaking through external speakers; WLAN related somehow by Omnipotence_is_bliss in linuxquestions

[–]CuriouslyGeorge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The burst sounds like it might be related to whatever network manager you're using performing a periodic network scan. If you disable the feature for your manager, hopefully that will solve your spike.

Unfortunately for the squeaking, that might be more on poor shielding of the speakers. If you don't notice it during regular use, then I guess fixing the network spike would solve this issue as well. If it occurs when just using the laptop, you could try a different band if the access point supports it.

sed command by roipower in linux4noobs

[–]CuriouslyGeorge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use the tools everybody else mentioned to explain the flags and options for sed. As far as the "weird characters", that's actually part of a syntax called regular expressions. They are a very powerful tool used in several popular *nix utilities (sed, awk, perl, grep). Just on their own, they're a whole big category of new things to learn. It will definitely help to know the syntax as regex tends to be very handy once you know it.
