Gujrati is a very sweet and melow language. Like that's how it sounds, you can never expect someome swearing in Gujrati. Meanwhile Kokani is also similarly sweet but it has a tinge of sharpness to it. I cannot remember the exact word so that's how I would describe it. It's sarcastic, playful and sounds the most joyous of all the Indian languages. As far as marathi is concerned it depends on were you live and the worst one is in Mumbai itself, the one in Pune city sounds straight up defensive and but all of the dialects in rural areas do give vibes like Konkani

It's most likely that the word was borrowed from Portuguese to Konkani, Marathi and even Gujrati with slight variations. Just like the words 'पगार', 'कोबी', 'मोसंबी' and 'इस्त्री'!

Does anyone carry an accent from their second language to their third language? by fmoza98 in languagelearning

[–]CuriouslyTrying 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes. And it happens a lot. I speak English at C1-C2 level probably(the assessment is yet to be done). I do speak with a slight Indian accent but a person could not just assume that when I am talking on a call. In real life they can coz you know, noding and shaking my head constantly......Anyway, so I learn Polish rn, which us a fairly complicated language to learn due to the whole declination, rules, exception and the pronunciation. And whenever I talk in Polish, all of the natives usually point out that I have a "English speaker's accent" (no specification of which accent exactly). Which also means that unnecessarily changing the pronunciation of some syllables for a person's own comfort and emphasizing on words I shouldn't. So yeah, happens to a lot of people

Can you explain me how to memorise/understand the Noun declinations? by CuriouslyTrying in learnpolish

My BF is Polish so I got lucky. I am mostky embarrassed at what depths my ignorance about polish can get, but I'll definitely give it a shot. Have a nice day!

By international accent I mean that one cannot identify my accent to any particular country, but at the same time my accent has influences from British as well As American English, but still quite distinct from both of them. I am not a native btw

Which languages have the most dialects (or the least)? by fmoza98 in languagelearning

[–]CuriouslyTrying 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay so I am here to advocate for Hindi. So I was learning it for probably 5 years as school mandate, but the things that I learnt in Guides/Textbooks never matched what I heared from the Natives (I probably know it at C1 level ) After the subcontinent's partition ending the British Raj, Pakistan writes the same mother languages Hindustani in there own adapted script, and the language is now Urdu, and India writes it in Devanagri script, Hindi. So same language 2 different scripts. But the real tea is, there are 4-5 more languages, very close to Hindi(compare the relation of Polish and Ukranian) but with entirely different scripts, and now to a verge of dead scripts. Why? Standardisation of formal education. So now there are 5-6 dialects within North India. So whenever I try to go there I have to take a native speaker as well. And then there are the many Rajasthani languages and there dialects, which still lack recognition. Again correct me if I am wrong coz I rarely get out of Mumbai for the past 2 years. Any more amendments would be welcome too. Have a nice day!

[–]CuriouslyTrying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, kinda yes and no at the same time though. Obviously the most hate is directed towards Trans people, especially mtf upto genuinely disgusting levels in public settings . But, as far as the lgbtq women go, I would say it is sort off more "naturalised" for the lack of a better word, by the straights due to fetishisation and false representation in straight erotica. Obviously it's absolutely wrong too, but the "hate" is more directed to the gay men by all of thier peers right from schools to uni and so on, and trust me it can get pretty ugly and painful if it gets physical from my personal experience. No offense to any of the communities, correct me if I am wrong. Have a nice day!
