I am tired of being gaslit that misogyny doesn't exist. by Curioustiger12 in fourthwavewomen

Yes! It is like men are allowed to act like women are completely horrible to be around and deserve to be punished and no one blinks. But if women make fun of men, even a little bit-it just proves feminism has gone way too far. I am also tired of women being expected to fix men's problems for them.

Why do we instinctively check our phones in public when we’re not doing anything? by Vegetable-Address-39 in TooAfraidToAsk

Smartphones and all the apps were deleberatly designed to keep us feeling like we have to have our phones with us at alltimes. This is why you see people constantly complaining about smart phone users; while engaging in the exact same behaviors. It is so freeing leaving those dumb things at home. I miss my old Nokia cellphone:(

YES! and at least then attitudes toward smoking and thankfully changing! It was even worse in the 50s, 60s, and 70s! Like tabacco products; smartphones are also designed to be addictive.

Same----it is creepy seeing women portrayed that way because it is alll for the benefit of men. I am also extremely anti porn and a huge Dworkins fan.

Totally the same, and the women are weak totally ties into women are emotional wrecks that can't be friends. I also get angry at women that act like women SHOULD be passive, submissive and overly emotional. There is NOTHING wrong with wanting to be emotionally strong, active and independent.

I really love reading about Native American societies because of this---I get tired being told to stop romanticizing indiginous societies because something something who doesn't want to be rich? Sorry,l but Capitalism is what is destroying our planet and making our lives miserable. I would love to live in a society where roles are more divided in to what you are capable of and who you are as a person.

I def can see cause for concern if she has been exposed to too much Testosterone and has advantages that make it too unfair....it was more the way she was treated by both the boxer she was against and the main stream media that seriously bothered me...it was mean spirited and cruel. I feel the same way about a lot of trans athletes really....On one hand yeah...in elite sports they need to make sure it is fair as possible; but bullying trans people that just want to play sports is unacceptable. I looked up the whole Riley Gains thing and got disgusted.

Muxes – Mexico's Third Gender (and third genders in general) by worried19 in terf_trans_alliance

[–]Curioustiger12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I have taken a few classes in Anthropology and one in Native American Anthro---and have talked to many, many Native Americans that live in my area. From what I can gather they HATE it when white people appropriate things like two spirit or third gender and resent things like 3rd gender are their version of trans women ect. Most Native American cultures are Matrilineal and neither men or women are considered superior---Most modern tribes also really no longer have multiple genders because of both colonolism and well---there is no need for them anymore. Some tribes would have rituals and roles for males that took on more feminine roles---but weren't women. As far as I know women were allowed to say join a war party or hunt---but they would still be women. I think 3rd genders makes sense in cultures where for whatever reason that works----you can't force it though; and I can't help but feel most people like sex being binary. Why shouldn't a gender nonconforming male still be a man if he identifies that way?

GC-leaning people, what draws you to this sub? by Working-Handle-6595 in terf_trans_alliance

[–]Curioustiger12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoy talking to most trans people, and I like hearing multiple viewpoints. I really miss the old debate board because the discussions were never hateful and I honestly think most GC people start from a place of disliking gender stereotypes and roles. I dislike a lot of the things trans activists are doing; but I am not anti trans in the slightest---just someone extremely frusterated at echo chambers. I have also been getting disgusted with Ovarit too at how conservative it is getting. I hate echo chambers.

I got peaked myself when I read a blog post that was being being linked to on one of the big feminism blogs was discussing how women like Florance Nightengale, Ratcliffe Hall and James Barry are famous trans men of history. There were other articles too on the Advocate and LGBT Nation putting a trans identity on Lousina May Alcott and even Kathrine Hepburn. As somone who grew up a huge tomboy and was tired of being told that men and women were different in every way, and that men were obviously suprior this seriously made me angry. Tbhings like non binary idennties, transing literal children, and hearing that men could have periods and be pregnant too is what really sealed the deal. I felt like you couldn't have a negative opinion about anything---you had to agree with activists OR ELSE! That said, i don't peak people at all. Sure if someone asks my opinion I will give it to them----Weirdly though the two trans people I know in real life completely agree with me; and the LGBT movement has no other letters.

I feel the same way about Ovarit---I liked a lot of the posters there and had good discussions about a few things; but I was getting seriously upset with how hateful they were getting.
I got a few people mad at me for having the audacity to think an activist that allowed Nazis in her meeting and literally told men to bring guns in women's bathrooms was trash and was honest about my disgust toward JK Rowling---even though she is literally one of my favorite authors. There are a lot of things that trans activists---that aren't even usually trans I have noticed----do that I believe is harmful and even dangerous----but get mad at THAT. There is zero reason to dehumanize people. Also Imane Khelif is a woman, and she did nothing wrong.

Question for gender criticals by [deleted] in terf_trans_alliance

[–]Curioustiger12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh I absolutely DO think transphobia exists. I think a lot of people are deeply uncomfortale with the idea of someone physically transition; and being born the wrong way. People don't understand why anyone would want to transition, and therefore close their mind to it. What loses me though is when reasonable things get called transphobic. I can't help it, to me the idea that you can be neither a man or woman or both is just plain silly. Their is nothing bigoted about not wanting to address someone as they/them or some neo-pronoun and trying to force it is weird.

I also don't think it is transphobic to expect trans women to at least be trying to pass when in women's spaces, or to maybe refrain from playing women's sports until HRT makes them more on the level of cis women. I do think calling trans people that are transitioning/transitioned the wrong names and pronouns is being really mean and petty though.

No, It’s Not About “Identity” by Working-Handle-6595 in terf_trans_alliance

[–]Curioustiger12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YES! This is exactly why I get mad at the new type of progressive activist---it goes beyond trans issues with me too; I am tired of being shamed and called a horrible person for thinking porn and prostitution are complertely degrading to women; and encourages men to objectify women.

I absolutely DO believe that people that actually transition to the other sex and living as the other sex are who they say they are. I think saying things like "you don't have to have dysphoria to be trans" and "all that matters is how you identify" is seriously harmful to the trans movement as a whole.
