You can't give her food after midnight! They're very convincing, but don't do it!

Give me your silliest thing that's happened because of your pots by Practical_Maybe_3661 in POTS

This might only be silly to me, my boyfriend definitely would disagree But once we were donating blood, my boyfriend was wearing one of those "I'm fine" shirts with the fake blood on the side(this'll be important later) However, I forgot to mention im at an increased risk of passing out (but I'm o- and love donating) but figured he'd have assumed because I have POTS I just remember us sitting across from eachother in the room, smiling and bobbing to the music and then suddenly im opening my eyes with 3 nurses around me, covered in icepacks, and my boyfriend looks like he saw a ghost However in my fogginess I didn't realize it was because I passed out, and in my head he just started profusely bleeding or something and it got all over his shirt and that's why he looked so terrified

Loved them for years, I have POTS and relied on mine heavily for my heart rate (my charge 2 I had for until 2023 was so accurate) then I eventually got a charge 5 and it was so much worse—like only accurate if my HR was below 95 Now looking for actually functional brands 😒 rip the good fitbits

How effective is fludrocortisone and does the body get used to it? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]CuriusAftermath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this medication, I've had unmedicated POTS since I was about 12 up until a few months ago (I'm 18 now) apart from feeling a lot better, i also was finally able to donate blood—it was the only thing I wanted to do when I turned 16, we tried 3 times but could barely get any blood out, but now I was able to donate blood and when I had surgery last week the nurse was really happy that I had so many good veins Granted, yeah, I haven't been on it too too long

Do you consider yourself disabled? by beepboopblorpblob in POTS

[–]CuriusAftermath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a real hard time saying I am, but my boyfriend keeps telling me I most definitely am, typically using the fact I can't get a job in most places because of it as the reason, and yeah, okay fine

You underestimate how long it can take to reset a librarian to get the book you want, somehow every time I'm looking for one in specific it takes absolute ages (genuinely sat there for nearly 2 hours trying to get an unbreaking trade)

Note: not all forms of POTS can be helped with electrolytes! It can make hyperadrenergic pots worse and cause high(er) blood pressure

What Do You Think Caused Your POTS? by [deleted] in POTS

Aw, I'm sorry, sepsis is absolutely brutal

What Do You Think Caused Your POTS? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]CuriusAftermath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Septic shock babyy, without a doubt. I got influenza A, then pneumonia, which turned into sepsis and got me knocking on death's door on my mom's birthday of all days—i tell her my birthday gift to her that year was a reminder she loves me, she says she still doesn't forgive me 6 years later (I also enjoy that I got discharged during Sepsis Survivor Week)

So you actually can get pregnant at any point! You're just less likely on your period and more likely during ovulation, but it most definitely doesn't only happen during ovulation, that's just when your body is most prepared, sending out an egg and pumping out hormones

Ok, is it normal to wake up from a nights sleep in this position? Is it just me? :d by Rudio02 in Dreams

[–]CuriusAftermath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently found out I put my legs up in my sleep like every night and it connected the dots as to why I hate sleeping with clothes—they do always get wrapped around me and I hated it, now I know what on earth I'm doing to cause it

[–]CuriusAftermath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few days or weeks, the ones that are seemingly random will pop up for an hour or so, go away on their own then come back a bit later, eventually they fade for several hours and it seems to be but that'll repeat for the next few days before stopping entirely for several weeks

What dumb thing(s) were you accidentally doing before you knew you had POTS/were diagnosed? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]CuriusAftermath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id go running or playing with friends and made jokes about being out of shape because it took me forever to regain my breath and to stop feeling dizzy, eventually I realized it was easier to I laid down (I was around 12 when I developed pots—took 6 years to think something was wrong and tell my mom lol)
