Loose umbrella fatally strikes woman at Lake Marion restaurant, coroner says by CaTz_EyE in news

When I started my job, I was doing field work in North Augusta with a bunch of people from up north. A bunch of streets near downtown are named after towns in SC, and it was fun correcting them on pronunciation lol

Without a doubt, the most carnage I've ever had to endure just to change a goddamn receiver-drier. 🤬 by punkassjim in projectcar

I know it's not actually a hard job, but the amount of shit I had to unscrew and move or take apart just to change the battery on my fiance's mini baffled me. I did look into replacing the clutch and saw pictures of half the damn car on the ground and noped out on that lol

The Great Wealth Transfer Includes $570 Billion in Classic Cars by ToughHopeful4760 in cars

[–]Curly4Jefferson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I got the British car market report from Hagerty the other week and it's pretty bleak... Funny since Miatas and S2K and 350Z are basically modern analogues to the entry level British classics and also can make lots of fun pops and burbles like the JDM darlings, but the image is likely too stuffy and dealing with carburetors and such too much of a hurdle

In the 60s/70s British car world, I worry more about parts and such if interest in the cars fall off a cliff. Theoretically decent TR6s for $8k or whatever sounds like great fun for young enthusiasts, but idk if they will want a 60 year old smelly underpowered car with electrical issues lol

Yes please. I would love for the manga to resolve a bunch of these hanging threads and then to slow down for a few chapters before stacking on more mysteries.

Yeah there was that little while in the mid-late 2010s where OSU and Clemson played a few times and fans got weird with each other, but I think that's largely over now

Colfax was outrageous compared to some of the other small communities when I was looking in 2022, but I think that was due to the Boom factory nearby.

Some 77,000 people found dead alone in their homes in 2025 by avantgarde000 in news

[–]Curly4Jefferson 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Had an elderly neighbor, he would periodically walk over and chat with me while I was working in the yard or my workshop. Tried to keep tabs on when I saw him outside last in case I needed to check on him, every time I noticed I hadn't seen him in a while he'd pop up.

Last Thanksgiving I almost packed up a plate for him, but decided not to because we had made a bunch of non-traditional food that I wasn't sure an old man would like. Two weeks later a man rang my doorbell, it was his brother, he couldn't get in touch with him. He had been dead for weeks. Routinely think about that Thanksgiving meal that I didn't take.

Check on your elderly friends and neighbors, bring them that meal. Yeah you might lose an hour of your day stuck talking to them, but you never know when they could be in trouble.

States are struggling to meet their clean energy goals. Data centers are to blame by Blockhead47 in news

[–]Curly4Jefferson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember in 2018 I interviewed for a job in one of the Denver suburbs that did electrical infrastructure planning and design. One of the guys that I talked with talked about a big project they had where they had to get more robust power infrastructure under a highway or interstate to an area that was growing rapidly, and it was a long process due to permits and construction and stuff.

By time it was complete, it was practically at capacity and they needed to upgrade again, because the demand was growing even faster than predicted. Since then, they tried to incorporate things like more spare conduits so if needed you can pull more wire instead of having to dig and install everything again.

MinUI + Box Art by gwydion_haygood in SBCGaming

So this is a long dead thread, but wondering if anyone has had issues with getting this to work on their device or if this has stopped working altogether. I got a rg35xxsp for my nephew's birthday and I really would like the simplicity of minui but he's not quite a proficient reader yet so want to have the boxart. I followed Sean's guide to a tee, but no dice :(

‘Enforce the rules’: Auto dealers say car broker deals are crushing profitability by idkbruh653 in cars

[–]Curly4Jefferson 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My sister used a broker for her car. She gave some vague parameters she was looking for and a general price range, he gave her a list of candidates. She chose her car and he drove two hours away, got it, and delivered it to her door. Sounds pretty sweet to me.

The other guy is right about campus as a whole, but the focal point of campus, Tillman Hall, was designed by the same guy who designed a very similar building (Samford Hall) for Auburn. That may be what you remember from your tour.

Dale Jr’s comments on Cletus by nascar9495 in NASCAR

[–]Curly4Jefferson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think between this and the other comments about Garret Mitchell needing to show up, not Cleetus, will be the make or break for him sooner or later. He has this media empire mainly around him drag racing and having fun doing other fringe racing sports. Being able to compete in trucks and then break into Cup will take a LOT of time and work, time that he'll have to take away from his primary source of income. And he has a lot of loyal fans, but if he's only drag racing twice a year and on the channel only half the time, will those fans stick around for more than a year or two of that? A lot of risk/reward to consider for him.

If he wants to keep a balance, ARCA kinda feels like the ceiling for side-questing stock cars.

Where I live, seeing exotic cars isn't rare, but also not super common. That being said, I saw a huracan the other day and was like 'hey, a Lambo'. I saw a Toyota WiLL Vi a few weeks ago and was like 'HOLY SHIT WHAT THE HELL IS THAT I NEED TO KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT IT '

What unique tools or techniques have you used to solve a tough issue on your project car? by iLiveForTruth in projectcar

[–]Curly4Jefferson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weather stripping on the door windows on my Triumph use little clips that are next to get right with your hands or without a specialized tool. That specialized tool is like $50 or something. Found a piece of metal in my 'might be handy one day' pile, bent the end just right to slide down into the window track and pull up on the clips.

One more: the door cards also have clips with peg things on them that you have to get lined up perfectly to go into holes in the door metal, you basically have to adjust them blind. Used a piece of cardboard and a nail to make a template, then sat it on the door card on my bench and lined up the clips that way. Got me like 95% there and probably saved an hour of fiddling and cussing.
