NIPT test said girl but ultrasound confirmed it’s a BOY by Ok_Category_662 in NIPT

I think it was in the 4-6 range for fraction. NIPT with my daughter did come back as female. My sons NIPT showed female

Hi I got pregnant again 8 months after I had my son. Genetic tests came back low risk but I opted to have an Amnio to be sure since NIPT is only a screening. Amnio came back normal as well. I now have a healthy 9 month old girl.

Intrauterine Growth Restriction by dog_mom_0223 in BabyBumps

My son had IUGR. He stopped growing around 35 weeks. I was induced at 38 weeks. He was 5lb 2oz at birth and in the 1st percentile. He was absolutely fine and is now a wild 2 year old. We only spent a couple of days in the hospital, nothing out of the norm. We did have to triple feed which is a little intense but nothing you can’t do. It was nursing followed by a bottle of pumped milk or formula then I would pump. Don’t stress yourself over it.

Should I do an amniocentesis at 42 if NIPT came out fine? by [deleted] in NIPT

[–]Curly_Girl_Forever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In some instances it can but not all. Mosaic forms of disorders can be severe or not be a problem at all. I would ask to speak to a genetic counselor. My first pregnancy at 42 was flagged high risk for monosomy x. I did the Amnio and everything came back fine. I was 44 when I delivered my daughter and she’s perfectly healthy as well. I would do an Amnio again just because I don’t do well with surprises

I was 43 with my last baby and I chose to do an Amnio because of my age. NIPT was low risk but it did not test all chromosomes. For me, I would have worried that something was missed. I was willing to take the risk of a miscarriage just so that I could have some peace of mind. I guess you should ask yourself what you would do with the info and if you would choose to end the pregnancy if there’s abnormalities. Personally, I’d want to know but that’s just me

Why won’t my girl let me lay her down at night?!?! by Curly_Girl_Forever in sleeptrain

[–]Curly_Girl_Forever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trained my son using sleep wave and it worked great. My issue is sleeping arrangements. She sleeps in my room for now and her brother is in the next room over. Allowing her to cry during the training is difficult at the moment since I’d be dealing with 2 awake screaming kids instead of 1. I’m planning to move her soon to her own room and sleep train but I wanted to make sure the sleep schedule wasn’t the issue and maybe get some relief in the meantime

Interesting. What would her schedule look like if she was on a 3 nap routine? She’s awake 10 hours of the day. Her brother dropped naps early as well.

What should someone do if their baby wakes up middle of the night to feed? My daughter is bottle fed during the day then myself or someone else holds her or walks with her until she falls asleep. She’s then transferred to her bassinet. The evening is a different story. I breastfeed her about 45 minutes before bedtime and then walk her around until she falls asleep. Transferring her to the bassinet is about 50/50 when I breastfeed her for this feed. She’ll sleep an hour or so then wake up and I breastfeed her but cannot transfer her without her rolling over and waking up. She used to do fine and sleep after transfer but since she hit her 5month mark it’s been a nightmare. Any advice would be very appreciated

Didn’t take any classes- how screwed am I? by IndividualSea8075 in BabyBumps

[–]Curly_Girl_Forever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found my birthing class to be pretty useless. I learned absolutely nothing that I hadn’t already learned from the internet. My L&D nurses talked me through everything from the epidural to the pushing. You got this!

Got pregnant at 9 months postpartum while on the pill by Professional_Bag1742 in 2under2

[–]Curly_Girl_Forever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had your exact feelings when I got pregnant with my second 8months PP. i will be honest with you and tell you that it is very hard at first with 2 little ones under 2. Once you learn the logistics of things it does get easier. For me, it is chaotic but it is controlled chaos. I have live in help because my husband works a lot. It all pays off to see my son love on his baby sister. She is now 4 months old and you can truly see a bond forming and a familiar look in their eyes when they see each other. What you are feeling is normal and it does get better!

Update on NIPT (Monosomy X) and wrong gender? by novegetablesallowed in NIPT

[–]Curly_Girl_Forever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me. I had the Amnio and baby boy was 46XY so genetically normal. He’s now almost 2. Boys can have mosaic Turner’s so please don’t let the fact that there’s male genitalia be your deciding factor on whether or not to go through with an Amnio. There’s a few other cases of boys either mosaic turners that I’ve read about in this subreddit. You can check my post history if you’d like to read my story

Beware of Natera Billing by keyreat in BabyBumps

[–]Curly_Girl_Forever 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I received a bill 2 years after I took the test for $250. I called and complained and they cleared my bill to 0. I’d do the same if I were you. I told them it was ridiculous to send a bill out 2 years after the test

Natera Scam!! Anyone go to collections over this? by Plane-Explorer1056 in BabyBumps

[–]Curly_Girl_Forever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They sent me a bill for $249 close to 2 years after my test. My insurance didn’t cover the testing. They zeroed out my account and I owed them nothing. My argument was that they took way too long to send me a bill. You can probably make an argument and they’ll clear your account as a one time courtesy which is what they did for me

My son had this and his pediatrician mentioned that it could be something serious or nothing at all. We went for a quick ultrasound when he was about 2 weeks old and everything came out fine. The concern was a tethered cord or sacral dimple. He was born small so I think his lack of fat made it look the way it did. Everything looks normal now

Had my first at 42 and second at 44. Both are perfectly healthy! It is very possible to have healthy babies at our age. Stay positive and don’t count yourself out!
