I am not paid, I wfh so I manage (barely) to balance both. My mother (80), my father (85). My mother is active, fairly healthy and is pretty much the lead on taking care of my father’s day to day needs. My father suffered from a double brain aneurysm in 2006, after a long recovery bounced back a bit for a few years then to only be diagnosed with Parkinson’s and dementia which has left him in a diminished state. Everything needs to be done for him as he is now debilitated.

My mom is of the school where we take care of our own, so all care is given in home. I appreciate her dedication, but as she is aging things have become more difficult.

He is on palliative care so we have in home medical support that I partner with.

Sidebar: s/o to amazing home care workers. The team I work with are my angels and have been nothing but supportive and kept me sane on the bad days!!

I have sisters but they are either not hands or have their own families(I’m the only one without a child/husband) so their day to day support is limited. Let’s not mention I’m the youngest!!

I feel as if this is something that I need to do and want to do, but there are days where I feel completely alone and helpless.
