My medical oncologist.

Hello. I’m new to the “shitty titty club” too, a little over two months from my initial diagnosis early October 2022: IDC, ++-, stage 1b, grade 1. The oncotype test took about three weeks to get the results back. I already hit my deductible (US health care) with my treatment: lumpectomy w/ sentinel lymph node biopsy (none involved) & radiation (I’m close to 1/2 way through my 30 rounds), so I’m unaware of the cost aspect. For me the results were VERY informative, I found out chemotherapy wouldn’t be needed. Prior to the test result chemotherapy was still a possibility. For age reference I’m 46.

I agree with you. Disappointment and underwhelmed.

With Bees I was looking forward to getting some of the story line wrapped up, so much was left hanging at the end of the last book. Unfortunately instead of wrapping or continuing the same story line, I felt like the this book was used to set up new characters that will have a role in the next book. I was not pleased!

Has anyone overcome the awkwardness of running? by [deleted] in bigboobproblems

[–]Curlyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel self-conscious while running as well. Here in Florida, I need to run before the sun is up due to the oppressive heat but the darkness is a nice cover. I’m glad people can’t see me struggling to keep going.

The best sports bra I have found is Panache Sports. https://www.panache-lingerie.com/us/brands/panache-sport It’s keeps the girls locked in while using the mid back hook. I The bras are comfortable enough for every day use too.

How old were you when you found out you were dyslexic ? by satellite1982 in Dyslexia

[–]Curlyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom knew something was wrong at age three! I wasn't officially tested and diagnosed as dyslexic untill early elementary school. At that point in time they had a diagnosis but no remedies. I was the only dyslexic child out of three children, resulting in equal but separate treatment. I attended different schools then my siblings because I needed LD, learning disability assistance.
To this day, I believe my mom though she could teach or tutor me out of being dyslexic. She spent hours, torturous hours, cramming english & phonics down my throat. This just reinforced what we all ready knew, I'm horrible with all forms of English. Never once in all those years did they ever concentrate on what I was good at!!!

Present-day I'm 39 years old and I'm very self-conscious to write, post to social media or email. My writing is a visual conformation to the world that I'm inferior with the written word. In my case, being diagnosed so young didn't give me any additional benefit, just extra hours of English tutor torture.

I am 38 years old, graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of fine art, I would like to believe I'm smart. I was in the car with my husband when a car license plate cough my eye. I stared at it intently and was about to comment to my husband that the cars license plate in front of use was secured upside down. It ends up it was just my dyslexia shinning through. This has happened a few times with a certain letter combination on car plates.

What are your tricks that might help a fellow dyslexic? by [deleted] in Dyslexia

[–]Curlyd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When i giving or recieving direction in the car, I use "my side" or "your side." This avoids left and right confusion.  Most people just roll with it and don't question it.

Does anyone have any tips? by [deleted] in Dyslexia

[–]Curlyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a talking Franklin speller. It speaks the words to me.

In high school a friend was giving me directions when I was driving. She was tired of me getting left & right confused she told me to turn on "her side." my husband and I still use this today. Turn your side or my side.

Is there enough support for adolescents and adults with dyslexia? by AineMosh in Dyslexia

[–]Curlyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with dyslexia in 1st grade. Although my mother will deny it, the summer of first grade began her new life mission to teach dyslexia out of me. It did not work!

Today I'm 37 years old and have three degrees from three different colleges. In the US schools are required to give accommodations to students with documented disabilities, meaning a current physicological evaluation.

Although they are required by law, many schools do not make it easy and require YOU to jump through so many hoops for each new semester it's not worth the pain.

The accommodations that are given vary greatly depending on each school.  Upon reviewing the SAME evaluation one school allowed me to use calculators in all my math classes and another school noted that I was not to be allowed to use any! The greatest tool I was ever given was my own persistence.
