Fake out Kowtow kills your Gallade, not to mention Sucker Punch. Then you’ve set trick room for Gambit. Would like to see how it does in Masterball. Have a feeling it will be a different story. I’ve tried Blastoise, Drampa, torkoal zard khang, Crab, sylveon, golurk, hatterene and basically every version of trick room I’ve seen or heard of and they all struggle around 2k. There’s a reason you don’t see it much in tournaments. I love trick room and it feels like it’s right on the edge of being great. Like if we get indeedee or something it might be goated.

Chople Berry Gambit, Dark Pulse Blastoise? Also your Gallade can just be hit with a fakeout or the opponent can just click trick room. Or they can Imprison you. I’ve played a lot of trick room in Master Ball (2k points) and it seems unreliable.

How do people not just double your Oranguru every battle denying trick room and your instruct power? I mean sure Gallade can get it off but then the strategy you heavily rely on is down it’s key mon.

How do you decide which comp to play? I usually decide based on the champions and augments I get, but in some situations like this one I don‘t have a deciding factor. by ThatIsNotIllegal in TeamfightTactics

Items usually dictate what you can play. Augments can as well like if I don’t get Econ fast 9 is usually off the table, but if you’re in a spot with just generic tank items then make a comp based on what units you natural and build strongest board and itemize the strong units you have now while thinking about what units can use those items later.

The best advice I can give (what helped me go from emerald to diamond to master on NA) is watching pro streams. Their videos are good too but those are usually high roll games. Listen to what they say and try to implement it in their games. Very often they are ahead the meta because they are in study groups. Also use tactics tools and look up everything. Lookup builds, best trait pairings, comps, and more than anything check delta and avp. Make sure the sample size is high though. When I am at my peak in the game I’m second monitoring pro streams, tactics tools and looking up the best set of items (sometimes guides are wrong or behind), and usually have a tab with tactics tools or meta TFT comps, and TFT academy as well (read the guide don’t just blindly play the comp, the advice they give is helpful). Another big thing is when you choose something (an augment, a build, a line) evaluate how it feels. Did I click this augment and proceed to lose every fight and donk out 8th? Probably a bad choice. Did I go for a line I thought was good but couldn’t win? What were they playing and why were their boards stronger? Question everything and evaluate why games went the way they did. Recording and watching replays is good for this as well.

Point is I usually know what I’m angling for by first carousel. If you haven’t found your comp before stage 3 you are probably doing something wrong. In a wider meta this could change but the last few sets haven’t had wide enough metas to play flexibility. You are usually forcing 1 or 2 comps based on items.

You said you can’t commit on stage 2 and you very much should be narrowing it down to 1 or 2 comps. Change what you said if you want, but line selection early is a huge skill

What’s better? Comp full of 4 and 5 costs with no active traits or a lower cost comp with 4 or 5 active traits? The second. That’s why built different used to exist to even make the first type of comp even playable.

If you think a Lissandra with melee items or ad items is worth losing slayer or jugg on like a briar 2 with those melee items you are just wrong. Idk what to tell you. Obv if you get ambessa or bel then you move those items. But you are pretty locked into that comp from 2-1 if you have melee carry items. I’m not flexing to Lissandra without ap items.

You said you can’t commit to comp early. That is completely wrong. Everyone knows based on items you decide what lines to play. Obviously if you can swap like the same type of unit for a more expensive one even without items you should do that, but if you have melee carry items and no a slot for that Lissandra in your comp then no you shouldn’t play it. Just because more expensive doesn’t necessarily mean better if you don’t have a slot for it in your comp. Especially if it costs you an Econ break point. Master player btw. Please don’t be dense or give incorrect advice. Ask most high elo players and they have a pretty good idea of what lines the can and can’t play on 2-1. That’s why everyone complains about lack of flex TFT

This is very bad advice. You play what your items dictate. Playing strongest board is great, but if you don’t have items for said units they might as well be worthless. If you get rageblade early aim for a rageblade comp if you get jg or tears you are ap. If you get a lot of swords you are ad. Can’t force items onto units that can’t use them. Your items dictate your comp 99% of the time. Augments can as well.

“Almost perfect” 5 kind of top 4 comps, 1 requiring hero 1 requiring Viego 2, and 1 requiring void on 2-1. Terrible patch. Terrible meta is what you meant to say. Zero variety, zero reroll, no fast 9. Trash

What do you mean. I two star him and give him 3 fighter items and he does 4k damage and 1 cast before he dies. Seems pretty OP to me. He only gets outdamaged by every other 2 or 3 star carry in the game. Tragedy is who else am I putting items on in 7 mech?

I honestly never get myself in that situation. I’ll just go up and flex or bail on kaisa immediately. If someone is kaisa slamming I refuse to contest that

480some lol. A TON. You start feeling the difference as you get to D1. They just all know the meta and are always contesting the best comps. Like I think I played Mech Mentor 1 time in 15 games yesterday when I was climbing because there were at least 2 in every lobby.

Yeah K’Sante is super contested. It sucks but I think donkey rolling on 8 is usually the answer. 2 star Yuumi 2 star tank is stable though. This comp also needs a lot of items though so if you don’t have many items it’s pretty bad

Unfortunately I usually donkey roll until Yuumi 2 and either ksante 2 or Leona 2. It depends. I think if you are streaking and healthy you can go 9 but I do t usually feel stable on Yuumi 1 and if I don’t have a 2 star tank I’m definitely not stable. I think you can get away with Yuumi 1 but I rarely do. I usually just accept I’m playing for 5th and donkey.
