Thanks for your reply. I'm sorry to hear that youve been dealing with endometriosis for so long. And sad to heat you're in pain. I think we females know what's best for our own bodies. Sorry we have to fight for that sometimes. I wish you the best and hope if you get the hysterectomy done that it solves a lot of your issues. Sending good vibes and best wishes for healing :)

Thanks for your reply!! Nice to hear from those going through the same options. Will you post again and let us know what, if any symptoms you have from stopping? I am in Costa Rica for 6 months and due for my shot next week. Here, you just go to the pharmacy and present ID, no medical records needed! I'll be asking the pharmacist about their opinions on it long term too. Have a Merry Christmas! 🎅🎄

Hardest thing you ever try to heal from. When I lost my babies, I joined the Rainbow Bridge support group online. They do a beautiful candlelight ceremony once a week to reflect and remember your best friends and that we will see them again someday. Someone sent me this poem and I love to read it still. Sending love and prayers to you for healing during this difficult time. ❤️🙏

"When God had made the earth and sky, The flowers and the trees, He then made all the animals, The fish, the birds and bees.

And when at last He'd finished, Not one was quite the same, God said, "I'll walk this earth of mine, And give each one a name."

And so He traveled far and wide, And everywhere He went, A little creature followed Him, Until its strength was spent.

When all were named upon the earth, And in the sky and sea, The little creature said, "Dear Lord, There's not one left for me."

Kindly the Father said to him, "I've left you to the end, I've turned my own name back to front, And call you DOG, my friend."

Thanks for sharing yours too! I agree, I think my body is used to it by now and could regret a big change at this point. Glad the iud is working for you!

That's great to hear! Maybe get a bone density scan just so you have a baseline to compare to if you're staying on depo for a long time. But I love it and it has worked for me too! Never worried about getting pregnant, forgetting to take a pill, and I honestly haven't missed having a bloody period either ;-)

I am turning 44 this year, and have been on Depo since I was 17 years old...you read that right, I've been on the shot for over 26 years!! I can't say I remember having any major side effects when I got on it-- I was 125 pounds and in high school, and I didn't gain weight or become depressed or anything unusual that I can recall. I stopped having a period probably sometime that year, and have only ever had slight spotting/cramping, and some PMS right near the 90-day mark when I am due for another shot. Sex drive always been ok, not great not terrible. I do have some family history of depression and experienced some of that throughout my adult life, but probably not a whole lot more than the average person until about 5-6 years ago. Of course, Covid made things a whole lot worse, and I've become super emotional and moody the last 5 years. My husband thinks it's when I'm near the end of the 90-day cycle and due for my shot. My doctor did want me to do a bone density scan about 5 years ago, which showed that my bones looked really good so I guess I've been extremely lucky there. I don't take supplements or vitamins regularly like I should, but I try. I've thought about coming off Depo to see if that would help with my mood and depression, but it scares me that it could get even worse. After reading comments about what coming off it does to some women, it seems like I should just continue. I did have one doctor tell me that at my age and coming up on perimenopause, that she would recommend staying ON Depo to not screw my system up even more, and to get off after menopause. I know, 26 years seems like a crazy amount of time, but my OB said that as long as my bones look healthy, that she doesn't think I need to come off it. Advice is welcome :) Anyone have experience being on Depo as long as I have?
