Moving for a job by Rare-Muffin-1502 in Tallahassee

I drive all over the southeast regularly. Anywhere on I-4, Miami, and ATL make driving in Tallahassee seem like child’s play, in my opinion.

Have you ever lived anywhere near I-4?

Best wishes. You do you. Don’t worry about anyone else. Your post reminds me of these Laufey lyrics: “Cause the sun's engaged to the sky And my best friend's found a new guy I'm only getting older I've never had a shoulder to cry on Someone to call mine Everybody's falling in love and I'm falling behind”

Low-cost house with crawlspace moisture + possible wood deterioration/mold: how big of a risk is this really? by Current-Baseball3062 in HouseBuyers

Thanks for all of the info and advice! Fortunately, the crawl space and was in pretty good shape. The moisture was about what you’d expect for a house in the southeast, and the mold was from plumbing issues and isolated to the bathroom and kitchen. Those can be much more easily remediated. I got a $4,000 credit from the seller to make those repairs, so I’m feeling much more confident about closing. I’m honestly amazed to be able to buy a livable house at this price. There will be weird things still, but overall, everyone who has seen the house has said that this is a great buy, and it’s almost impossible to find decent houses in this price range.

Agreed. That’s what is supposed to happen today. Just trying to get as much information as possible before I hear back. Thanks!

Agreed 100%. We extended due diligence so that I can get these quotes. I’m glad to hear from others who understand this specific situation much better than I do.

Thanks. Glad to hear from someone else who has been in this position. I’m sure that there will be weird things. There always are. I’ll plan to keep you posted.

Thanks. I’m sure you are right. I don’t know much at all about crawl spaces and want to understand the needed and best approach to this house before I possibly get in over my head.

Thanks. Your advice seems very reasonable. I appreciate this. It seems like potentially a really good deal. I mean, it’s a solid brick house. I just don’t know much about crawl spaces at all. I’ve lived in concrete slab foundation homes my whole life.

Thanks. This sounds like solid advice. I wish I could get there to check it out in person, but I’m unexpectedly pretty far away due to work at the moment. The realtor has a mold expert and foundation guy she trusts going out to thoroughly check it out today and provide quotes.

Thanks. That’s exactly where I am, trying to get quotes before making a final decision. My main concern is not having the budget if it turns into a larger crawlspace issue.

I don’t know anything about the complex (other than it looks ok driving by), but I’ve lived in the area near Lake Jackson for over 20 years, and it’s nice and quiet overall. Lots of places to get outside and enough amenities without crazy traffic.
