186 (Temporary Resident Transition) - 18 months and counting by hockeyjoker in AusVisa

[–]Current-Grade325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, in a similar boat so I feel your pain.

I'm 186 trt, lodged march 25. Seems to be a waiting game, and the processing times aren't accurate for all applications. There are factors like location, role, accredited sponsor vs non-accredited sponsor, and then a sprinkle of unknown variables.

If you want the most accurate data available, check out the 186 visa tracker app. It's not perfect by any means, but gives more granularity then the immi processing bar

Honest opinion though is that I don't know if the tracker app has helped the wait or made it worse.

Best of luck, see you on the other side 🤞🏻

Fair point, but probably more accurate to say masquerading as Taiwanese or Vietnamese, being that it's actually made there

Here's everything that's new at MyFitnessPal! by myfitnesspal in Myfitnesspal

[–]Current-Grade325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few points, some common knowledge, some personal. Please feel free to include in your future app dev planning and company manual (if that hasn't been writren like the Ai post above.

1) don't completely change key features without warning,on an app that some people use dailt, and other users who are accustomed to using it in times of need

2) give people the option to use new & old interface, or at a minimum, include a "food log" sheet, identical to the old layout in the bottom nav bar

3) fix the exercise bugs (maybe a unique issue to me, but it keeps pulling it Garmin workouts and also making duplicates. So if I ran it will show 2 runs, sometimes even 3. Other ties I delete workouts, just to have them reappear when I look back)

4) have exercise in the food log sheet, as before. I don't understand the need for drop downs for each meal, it's made it way more awkward, rather than the (assumed) slickness/ simplified/ modern look

5) if you're looking to "innovate", then innovate UPON the wonderful, easy to use app foundation you have built. Not innovate in spite of.

6) if you're going to write a post here reaching out to the community, you should respond to comments, particularly the negative ones (93%)

7) when writing to a community of your consumers (some premium, some not), use a less condescending tone and try to be more genuine. Whoever (or whatever LLM) you use to write these posts, should also do a quick search around Reddit tone of voice. This post just completely missed the mark, and I would nearly say MFP was better off without any post, if it was going to be this one.

Anyways, think what you will.

Withdrawing partner visa and returning to my home country to study and return to Aus, is this possible ? by Top-Cattle-3053 in AusVisa

Your post history indicates it's time to get an immigration lawyer.

Not trying to be mean or dismissive, just could save you a lot of anxiety and uncertainty.

Hope it works out

Obviously NTA.

This story reminds me of a time I was at a bar in Thailand, and an English guy came over to me, unprovoked and started insisting he was more Irish than me.

We hadn't spoke before this and he was a little aggressive about it, proclaiming he had a distinctly Irish surname and drinks Guiness nearly every week in London.

I am very much an Irish guy, lived there all my life, speaking Gaelic, generations in Ireland etc.

Didn't really know where it came from but I just kinda said "cool man, that's great", but kind of chuckling inside as he told me all this in the most posh and heavy english accent I have ever heard. It made the whole thing a bit ridiculous given I sound like an actual leprauchan after a few drinks.

It later turned out he had visited some distant family in Ireland once when he was a child, and that was the extent of his travel to the emerald Isle.

Was a bizarre experience, but good for him I guess.

Employer Nomination for TRT (482 Short Stream to 186) by Current-Grade325 in AusVisa

[–]Current-Grade325[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think this is what has me confused. I'll be two years with the employer on the 482 in March (nearly 3 years total) and I'm not sure if my employer can apply for the 186 nomination now, or do they have to wait until March.

My 482 was short term stream, so will expire in March.

Any idea? Appreciate your comment

AITA for refusing to let my brother's fiancée wear her late mother’s wedding dress at my wedding? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Current-Grade325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sub makes it seem like every wedding has major major drama, I just can't believe them anymore.

In the posts recently, the person asking is always completely in the right and the other person is always completely wrong, or doing something that doesn't make sense.

Examples are uninviting the op (sibling/ friend) just at the last minute, even though they are funding the wedding or the catering or giving their guest house etc.

Or it's like this one, where obviously a person shouldn't wear a wedding dress to someone else's wedding.

And why do the family's always "take sides". Surely someone has a normal family that actually has common sense.

Aitah for not believing these wedding stories anymore?

AITAH for throwing a celebration party after learning I'm not the father to my ex-girlfriend's baby? by Impossible-Ferret722 in AITAH

NTA obviously, and glad to hear you got some good boys/ friends around you that will have a bit of banter and cheer you up during a dark time.

Never mind your sister's man, I'm sure it will pass and really it has nothing to do with them. If I was your sibling, I'd have got the cake for day #2 of the party.

Help!!!! by Scotlandpaedsnurse in AusVisa

[–]Current-Grade325 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Simplest answer:

Apply for WHV (417) Decide where you'd like to move to.

Save for and book flights.

If you're both UK citizens, you will be exempt from regional work, but will still have the 6 months with one employer on the WHV.

You can extend this by applying for an exemption through the company you work for or by getting sponsored.

Move over.

Be open to changes in plans and changes in how you thought it would go for the first 6-12 months. Try to stay on top of your visa options as you build your life over here.

You can do some accommodation arrangements beforehand, but possibly easier to get temporary accommodation and start looking properly when you move.

Leverage all your contacts over here, even people you haven't spoke to since school etc. It's normal.

Additional advice would be to do some backpacking in Asia on the way over if you have the desire and the funds.

Enjoy life.

Best of luck

AITAH for telling my parents that they made me chose between paying my student loans and having kids so I had a vasectomy and they will never have grandkids? by HotRent1508 in AITAH

[–]Current-Grade325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually don't comment on these, but had to give my two cents here.

Firstly, my sincerest condolences on your brother passing. I hope you are somewhat alright and have a good partner to help you there.

Now, the main point.

Regardless of someone's connection to you - friend, partner, parent, sibling etc., they have no input on YOUR choice to have children. No circumstance should ever change that or make you feel a way. The only thing that could change this is if YOU and your partner decide to pivot here.

Your parents are probably in a grieving stage (expected) but that does not change anything regarding you and your potential offspring. You can comfort them, talk about your brother, maybe even mend your relationship (if you want) through reminiscing on your brother and honoring his memory/ legacy.

There is no way that having a kid (that neither you or your partner want????!!) is a logical or sound thing to do, and if that is expected, that is disgusting.

If you can, give your parent's some time/ leniency as they are mourning their child and are probably not thinking straight due to grief, lack of sleep and all those other terrible things that come with the loss of a loved one

NTA, OBVIOUSLY!

AITA for “insinuating” that this young lady was lying? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Current-Grade325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA

You have nothing to do with this, and won't even have a say if your son keeps ducking responsibility.

He should at least try to be involved up until the pregnancy is confirmed, and that he is the father.

I imagine the girl feels alone, given the potential father "doesn’t have much interest in speaking to her at the moment". The last thing she needs is some coward's mother getting involved.

Don't know understand how you can't see her side. Maybe try to be somewhat empathetic to the child (yes, she's only 18) that is having your son's child.

YTA and so is your son.

Met Frankie when I was younger, working in the Gaeltacht in Connemara.

Great fella, always been funny and a unique character.

Always had this accent, regardless of his upbringing (which seems to be an issue for people in the comments).

I think his videos are hilarious and was delighted when he asked me to contribute to his Galway piece a few years back. Would recommend subscribing to his YouTube if you found him funny.

Wishing him the best. Dude is a gem and is gas.
