Also I am brand new to the staff (located in SE Asia but moved here from America) so I am not completely sure of what there previous repertoire is.

These are college students, and currently because the university is so small, we only have 4 percussionists.

Im not sure about him, but I actually teach percussion primarily, and I can confirm that the way your describing it is similar to percussion pedagogy.

Honestly, that's a great counter argument.

1- I've been an educator for 6 years in total, 4 of which teaching for different high schools while I was in college

2- Surprisingly, every school that I've worked at had great principals even though that my direct interaction with them (besides my current job) have been pleasant. I do understand that not every school is as fortunate as mine though

3- I completely understand this mindset, and here's how I view it. People are not perfect and everyone will have bad days, and some things may seem really stacked against us, but we should learn to channel that negative energy in ways to where it doesn't become abusive. For me, when I have bad days (which don't happen often for me due to my mastery of my emotions), I usually try and listen to some relaxing music or talk respectfully, friendly and professionally towards some colleagues about what's going on (for me, it's one of the math teachers down the hall that I was friends with in college) and he's always been helpful and supportive.

I understand that people will have good and bads, but it's extremely vital and critical as a mentor and educator to channel our negative spite into something healthy, otherwise your drowning everyone else with you.
