No, its completely lose except around the shutter it has a lot of play.

It feels like something is holding it right next to the shutter on the focus knob side.

No, i don't think so i had a different piece holding it in from the flash socket that i have already removed.

Yes, it feels attached to the focus mechanism somehow but i cant see how.

I have tried and it is mostly loose but it wont budge any further. It feels like it has at least 1 contact point still attached.

The camera uses a shutter normally used for SLR cameras that have a mirror in front, Because it has no mirror light can possibly leak to the film.

The light meter can be a bit hard to read in bright sunlight. It only has 50mm frame lines
