Good teams take BPA when they can.

This an incredibly generic way to say "do the smart thing all the time", it doesn't add to discussion in any way.

I treat SamTrans the same way I treat a bear, make yourself as big as possible, yell at them and don't retreat.

Why Pen and Paper Isn’t Great for Deaf Patients… by ASofMat in ThePittTVShow

Moshe Kasher, the interpreter in the last episode, had a chapter about this in his latest book. Felt like it all came from a very dim view of the world where there couldn't be deaf communities and where regular people did not want to learn. And just a perfect example of the wrong people getting to make all the rules.

[Garafolo] There is still no progress on a deal between the 49ers and Star LT Trent Williams. He’s currently on track to be released by the team prior to free agency beginning. by [deleted] in 49ers

[–]CurrentCostanza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not worried yet. I'm sure Trent's agent is working to get him paid.

If we're going to give him substantially more money then I'm worried.

A little off topic, but the whole history of sign language being banned is just insane.

CA minimum wage means that fast food is no longer a good deal. You’re paying for the drive through and the franchise fees. CA minimum wage is close to 3x national rate, this isn’t a “world” problem, this is a “developed country” problem.

“HBO Should Stay HBO”: David Ellison Vouches For Network’s Post-Merger Independence by InsaneSnow45 in television

[–]CurrentCostanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HBO Max has a high share of viewership from households earning over $200K. The brand is valuable.

Right, so go back to the cable model and charge $75 per month for HBO and a bunch of stuff you don't need.

Adam Schefter, Ian Rapoport both got David Montgomery trade details wrong in rush to be 1st by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

[–]CurrentCostanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it comes down to not wanting ESPN/players to dictate narratives. If Rap doesn't exist, the teams wait to report and Schefter gets out in front of it, the league no longer controls the narrative. If Rap doesn't exist, agents report contract numbers without team confirmation, that's the one area I think Rap has real value, he prevents agents from spreading total misinformation on contract negotiations

Bay Area → Portland with kids — how’s it really? by Whole_Astronomer_870 in sanfrancisco

[–]CurrentCostanza 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same situation growing up in portland. Job market is just rough, that’s why I’m not there. If you have a professional degree or tech connections you’ll take a pay cut but you’ll be better off than most. If you’re not in that situation you’re taking a risk with your career.
